RS4 B7 wheel spacers - Advice required please!

Hello.
Can anyone offer a newbie RS4 owner some advice on wheel spacers please?
Firstly, what are the pros & cons of using them...is it actually beneficial to the handling or purely cosmetic? (are they actually worth fitting??)
Secondly, what is the preferred width for an otherwise standard RS4 B7 saloon running 19" wheels and would they need to be hubcentric?
Lastly, where would be the best place to procure them from and how much should I expect to pay??

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi Ben,

Purely cosmetic. Most people go 8mm on front and 10 on back, but you can get away with anything up to 12mm all round I think. If you sometimes have heavy loads (like I do) I would go 8mm all round stop rubbing on the rear arches.

Defintiely need hubcentric, dangerous to run otherwise.

Post an add in the classifieds for some second hand ones. Or you can buy new from many sites online, just search for them. Expect to pay between 100-150ish, depending if new or used.

I wouldn't say non hub centric were dangerous. The issue is if they are not hub centric then they might not be perfectly centred and you'd get vibration through the wheel as it will effectively be unbalanced. Anything over 5mm tend to be hubcentric anyway.

Only going by what Jules told me. Someone flogged me some non-hubcentric on here and they just didn't feel right at all.

Virdee Autos sorted me out, great service. Send him a message (on the forum) and he'll supply spacers and bolts. Mine arrived the next day!

As others have already said I went with 8mm front and 10mm rear, no rubbing. I think there are a couple of photos on my build thread.

8mm & 10mm didn't under steer any more than standard for me.

What I will say though, is that cars with SS+ suspension can rub on 10mm with certain tyre brands, if you enjoy B-road bashing with pronounced road undulations. In my experience, I found that Michelin tyres resolved this minor rubbing.

Just to confirm what Sam is saying I was four up last weekend on SS+ with 10mm spacers on the rear on Michelins and had zero rubbing.

"u wot m8"

You will understeer if the rear wheels are spaced wider than the fronts. 100%
The way to tell understeer is if drive round a medium sized roundabout round and round your car will splay outwards.

An interesting one! I've just bought an RS4 saloon, with 10mm spacers all round and SS+, Michelin Pilot Sport. I'm getting rubbing on the rear from time to time on a bumpy B road. DRC is fine. Conscious in not wanting to high jack the post but feeling it is relevant, I'm think of taking the spacers off and trying the same roads to conclude they are causing the issue. Interesting to hear that not everyone with SS+ and similar 10mm does not have the same issue.

After last weekend in Wales, i can confirm that 8mm all round on SS+ do not rub. I don't think I can drive drive more undulating roads, I managed to scrape the bottom of my front bumper and I'm not even lowered at the front!
