Service

Hi all

My RS4 is telling me two days until it needs serviced (28k miles on the car) should I buy the oil myself (if of course the local audi dealer will let me) and ask the garage to service it, and if so what grade of oil should I purchase, the car is supercharged, but I presume they should be ok for checking it over as well when the car is booked in?

I had been thinking of selling it, but every time I drive it I then think differently lol.
I should add the car was previsouly Iain's (22b) from the forum.

Thanks in advance.
David.

Have a chat with Iain and see what he did. Would imagine oil change only should be ok anywhere, but I would want to confidence whichever dealer was competent. I recall its full Audi service history, so depends on whether you want to keep that, but also were you are and therefore what specialists are within reach.

Oh, and seen as this is the special white one, pictures required. do you still have Rob's B5? Pics of the pair, if so.

Wow, after only 16 odd weeks and 2k miles?

Keep the full Audi history regardless of what anyone says; you may well need to return the car to stock and sell the parts on to recoup costs. A full dealer history car with that low mileage will sell.

Thanks for the comments guys, I will take it to my local dealer Belfast Audi (now part of the Sytner group), and ask them what service is required at this mileage/age, I do know an independent guy who is very well versed on UR quattro's, and has worked on a few other people's RS4s, but I would like to keep the book stamped with Audi if possible.

I could put the car back to standard as I have all the parts to do so including the 19in alloys, but hopefully it won't effect the value of it to much (if at all) having the tts charger, I suppose most people would prefer it as it is, due to the discreet nature of the modifications.

The B5 is at a dealers at the moment for them to try and sell, it is a very nice car, and to be honest if the B7 was sold then I would keep it, or the other way around. Unfortunately I am not good at uploading pics, but I will give it a go in the next week or so when I collect the B5, as they both look really nice in their own way, if you know what I mean! lol

Just buy a load of oil off line to spec and take it to the dealers and they will do the oil service etc quite cheaply , that's what I've done and the oil is miles cheaper that way David

I'd be getting the stamp from Audi for sure David. Buying your own oil will save some money for sure but, whether that's actually worth the hassle....?

On another note... You selling the B5!!!!!????? No way! That car is a belter...If you are, then get it up on the forums, it'll sell easily I'd imagine, good forum history!

Best regards, Guy
Ps, my ur engine bay is getting there!

You'll save at least £100 just buying your oil online and the opening the door to sign for the delivery !
I had a b5 and thought I'd regret it going for a b7 ..., never regretted it and never missed the B5 but missed the b7 so much I'm after another . I'm sure I'd think twice about a b8 but then not regret it but currently their values are dropping like the proverbial lead brick

Hi, can you please let me know what issue you had with Audi, (pm is fine if you don't want open discussion on the forum)
I used them recently to fit two rear parking sensors on the B7, and also the sport sport wasn't activating when I got the car, but they repaired them with no issues, although I have to admit they were not cheap.
I know the service manager Colin for his previous job with BMW, and I have always find him to be very helpful, and willing to go the extra bit for the customer, hence the reason I was curious to find out what issues you had with them.

The guy I was suggesting was Ivan Warwick, he has worked with Audi cars all his life, and very well known in quattro circles.
I can pm you Ivan's number if you need it.

David.

Hello Guy

I trust all well with you, 'and of course have to mention little Fergie', I hope Santa was good to him this year!! lol
Regarding the service I want to keep the service history with the dealer if possible, and I would have no hesitation in taking the car to Perth Audi again, as they know it from previous services, and they can also check the car over and suggest work that they feel I should do if need be, also (hopefully) some good will with them.

I have put the B5 with a company, and they are hoping to sell, I genuinely do not want to let it go as it is a very good car, but I will sell either it or the B7, and which ever one sells first then I will keep the other.
To be honest I had a few guys from SRS forum sending me pm,s about wanting to buy it. but wasted my time back and forth with messages, enough side.

Glad to hear you are progressing with the UR, and hopefully the (bad) pics helped a little, you will have to let us all see how it looks like now!

Hopefully speak soon.
David.

I think you are right John in regards to the oil.
I fitted an ARB kit whilst replacing the coilovers with bilstein b12 set up and the car steers a lot nicer, this was suggested to my by Norman and was good advice, the b5 has been remapped which I think helps the car as well.
The B7 is a different car completely, the noise with the v8, and the way it drives is just different in a slightly more modern way, if you get my drift, although my car with the charger certainly goes well much quicker than my poor driving can cope with lol

In relation to the B8, I think they are a very nice car, and obviously that bit more modern again, but I struggle sometimes when I am up close to them to know if it is an RS4, or an RS6, until I check the badge, but then maybe in some people's eyes that's not a bad thing!

David.

You'll need to provide 10L for a B7 RS4 service as it takes 9.6L inc filter.

I purchased a 20L Canister here for £81.40 inc delivery and had both my RS4's serviced by Audi, saved nearly £200 by just providing my own oil.
