My first Rs6 c5 avant in the pipeline...

Post by Rs6williams » Fri Mar 28, 2014 12:01 am

Hey guys, I won't annoy you and ask you about buying advice you'll be pleased to know.
I just thought I'd state my reason for being here.....

My dad had always been an avid audi man, so I've always had VWs (with a few exceptions) and when finances let me I stepped up and brought my first Audi, a TT mk1 3.2 dsg. (Don't laugh). My dad used to own the first gen face lift S8 and when it was in for repair the main dealer leant him an RS6 c5 avant.... Since then I've been obsessed!!! Never seen anything that makes my heart race as much as that car.... After years of searching, and adding up costs I've finally found a great example that I can afford, I'm 26 and the insurance is £320 a year!!!!! :) :) :)
The beauty I've found has had all the usual bits done, cambelt, coilovers, gearbox etc etc etc.
Just wondering if this car is known by any of you guys? And maybe have any inside gossip? I did the same on a scooby site when I brought my p1 and it helped a lot!
Thanks for your time guys!!!

Hi Rs6williams

Guess you have been to see it in the flesh and are pretty sure its the one? If you have done your homework you will know what to look for and if its on DRC make sure its doing the job for now. Always have some money put aside but at 26 and quoted £320 a year you should be able to save some! Who is that with if you don't mind me asking anyway???

The quote was with privilege.
I presume the silver box is an amp for some sort of sound system?
No I haven't seen it in flesh. Dealer has emailed me the full history and it looks promising. I plan to look at it this Saturday. One thing that caught my eye was the exhausts don't seem even? Could this be just down to the brackets??
Yeah the drc has been replaced with blistein adjustables.

If she's not the one I will keep on searching. The suede steering wheel is a lovely touch! Also love how the trim is black instead of chrome.

That silver thing .....sorry FON and welcome.

Right, the silver thing, I think is a Denison box - https://www.google.co.uk/search?newwind ... B900%3B900
The car is priced very well for the age/ mileage. Looks like a good example, I did say LOOKS like one. Has plus discs on, goodyear tyres, alcantara steering wheel and gear knob (look in great condition, almost brand new!) bilstein.
Who has done the service work? MRC or Unit20? If so, give them a call and ask them about it.
Has it had a gearbox service?
I assume it's on standard tune as it has standard exhaust, but some still have stage 1 with oem exhaust.
Good luck.If I were you I would ask if it could go to either MRC or Unit20 for an inspection, they will point out what needs doing (if any).
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

One of the emails from the dealer.....
Among the receipts, what i have found is at around 47k miles it had all four shockers, control valves and pipes replaced by Audi, at 62k wishbones, upper & lower control arms and upper links were replaced and during the work the cambelt & water pump were replaced then also.
I'm not sure this answers your question but it would appear that if anything needed doing the previous owners made sure it was done.

Just emailed him about who carried out all the work. And I'll contact those guys and ask them about an inspection. I gotta force myself not to buy with my heart, as I've been looking for years and this seems to be the one, but could easily be a rough old dog that will cause me heart ache lol.

Thanks for the help guys!!

Another reply from dealer.... Sounds like it was looked after no matter the cost....

"Hi,
With the suspension change i can't find a receipt that shows who did this but on one print out of servicing it shows at 57k "replacement of front & rear suspension & seals by an Audi mechanic"
There is a number of invoices showing gearbox service, the last one stated in the service book at 62k.
Last year the engine was removed for what would appear to be an oil leak and a number of parts were replace including right hand manifold, high pressure pipe, new radiator, new engine sump, hoses, pipes etc..
I agree that like many high performance car's they can be a bit fragile but I really don't think it has been neglected at all.
If you would like to come and view please let me know, and we can discuss the possibility of someone taking a look. There is a local Audi specialist fairly close to me here."

Sounds good!!! It's about 2hours away from me, so I'll take a little trip up there, will keep you posted :)

Hi,
Given the reply from the dealer, reference ' all four shockers, control valves and pipes replaced by Audi..' my feeling is that its not on coilovers. You might want to factor in the likely failure of the DRC if thats the case. Does the print out imply there is no service book present?
Car looks nice though - black optics really work with Avus.
Cheers
