RS6 oil grade

Post by 5parky01 » Thu Mar 27, 2014 7:53 pm

Hi,
Can someone help I am needing to do an oil change on my 2003 RS6 but I am not sure what to use as there is so many people with different opinions.
My local Audi dealer just sold me castrol edge 5W30 and said that's what they use but noticed some people saying this is no good.
Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Hi, did you get an answer for this?

I've searched and found differing opinions on the correct grade of oil to use (2003 RS6, as per OP) - advice much appreciated please!

5W40. I'm using castrol edge. There's two versions, the turbo diesel one matches the audi/vw oil specification and 5w40 fst which is for petrol & diesel.

Edit: I just checked the castrol website and their new Titanium FST 5w40 meets the correct spec VW 502 00/ 505 00 / 505 01

You can use 5w30 as well but it's recommended for cooler climates.
