Hi all,
I am a new RS6 owner; Purchased 2003 RS6 from a dealer - with a 3 month "comprehensive warranty" from the RAC.
A week ago I noticed a fairly low level "rubbing" noise from the drivers rear side, so took it to the local garage, after a short inspection they have diagnosed new shocks are requied - the dealer has said that they wont pay for the repair to be fixed if it falls outside the warranty? warranty only covers a broken shock rather than wear an tear??
Having looked throught the last MOT the below faults were found -
- rear shock absorber reduced damping effect
- rear gas suspension unit pipe corroded
does the dealer have any legal obligation to cover these repairs as they were known and not disclosed at point of sale?
Any help would be greatly appriciated!!
Thanks

Secondly - read through your rights on second-hand car purchases. I'm pretty sure the dealer should not have sold you the car unless these issues were disclosed, especially if the car was advertised 'in good working order'. It would be very difficult for them to argue this failure was due to wear and tear on your behalf, the MOT advisory states this issue was present before it was sold to you. You've got a fair bit of power if you act quickly.
Rule 1.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I had a very similar issue with mine the dealer ended up coughing up 400 quid but in hindsight I should have held out for more, but the car had been at Qst for over a month by that point and I'm going through moving house so I could really do with having the car back, if it's on the mot then the car was sold to you not fit for purpose see my old thread under 'dealer/warranty issues there's loads of helpful responses from others on there
