Highly Recommended Audi dealer for RS models
Highly Recommended Audi dealer for RS models
As we all know, good Audi dealers are few and far between, especially now the techs at Camberley have left.
My RS 6 needed some fairly involved work, so on the recommendation of a forum member, I booked my car in and made the four hour round trip to Jack Barclay Audi in Wandsworth to have my car looked after. My local dealer had made a fairly inexcusable oversight when replacing the wheel bearing on my car (not for the first time) and it wasn't a job I had confidence in them completing.
On arrival at Jack Barclay I was met by Dale, the service advisor. He ran me through the job card, made recommendations and genuinely seemed interested, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the RS 6, he offered me a tour of the workshop as thought being an RS owner I may enjoy it, I had to get back to meet DK to hand over my wheels so politely declined.
As Dale brought the loan car around, the service manager, Chris, came out to greet me, by name. He knew how far I had travelled, and again, offered me a tour of their facilities, curious now, I followed him into the workshop.
I think I counted around seven B7 RS4's, a TT RS or two, a C6 RS 6 Avant sat with it's huge engine and box out, R8's, not only new stuff, either, there was a cherished S2 sat amongst all the new stuff, too. It wasn't the TDI S Line fest I had anticipated when Dale initially offered me 'the tour'.
Chris spoke about the fact they had de-coked some B7 RS 4's, and even mentioned the B5 2.7TT engine in conversation, so I knew he had more interest than your average Audi dealer, most wouldn't remember the 2.7TT engine, and flat out deny or are completely unaware of the coking issue that all you B7 owners are all to well aware of.
Later that evening, I had a call from Adam, their master technician (from home as he was off that day!), he went through what they were going to do, answered a few questions for me, and knew tons and tons about the C6 RS , he's a genuine enthusiast and has owned a C5 RS 6 himself for the past five years.
They've gone above and beyond to help me and work around my awkward work schedule, have diagnosed issues that two other Audi dealers have been unable to and one flat out said wasn't there, they even spotted that the last Audi dealer had fitted my pads upside down...! Note, this was a different dealer to the one who managed to cock up the wheel bearing change!
I cannot fault the service at Jack Barclay at all, without going into too much detail, purely because the post is long enough as is. It is no surprise they've won the Audi UK main dealer technical cup - which Chris is clearly very proud of, the most important thing for me was that they recognised that RS owners are more particular than the chap getting his company leased 2.0 TDI A4 serviced, they know the RS range inside out - old and new, and have a genuine passion for RS models which was very clear for me to see.
I cannot recommend Jack Barclay Audi, Adam, Chris and Dale highly enough.
If you're going to book your car in, ask for Dale, and mentioned Amar with the grey RS 6, also request that Adam work on it personally.

Re: Highly Recommended Audi dealer for RS models
Thanks for the heads up Amar. Please keep us posted, particularly after you get the loon back. It would suit me to have a recommended C6 RS6 knowledgeable/trustworthy garage just down the road as an alternative to the 80 minute trip to MRC

Wow, that's off the beaten track, even for me, I hate South of the River.

Just for clarification. John is talking about Amanda's dealer, not Jack Barclay.John Johnson wrote:Sounds like it ... They missed the steering rack and then are stiffing you again

Re: Highly Recommended Audi dealer for RS models
Anyone know of a decent dealer further north - buying a new S6 Avant from Benfield Silverlink (North Shields) but don't think I will let them service or work on her

High praise indeed. Unfortunately it is true that only a few dealers can be trusted to make sure they do the job the way it should be done. This only comes from having the passion for it.

Only just spotted this. I have to say I couldn't agree more. The guys have looked after my B8 RS4 since I got her 6 months ago. She's only been there a couple of times, but each & every time the service & attention is excellent.Mr V10 wrote: I cannot recommend Jack Barclay Audi, Adam, Chris and Dale highly enough.

To add, I think any RS (possibly S car too) is handled by Adam. He's their master tech & he's keen to ensure that he handles all cars of this spec, but it might just be policy for dealers.
It's all torque talk.
Re: Highly Recommended Audi dealer for RS models
I agree with the review. JB is my closest centre. My A1 has had its first service and oil change there.
Chris worked at Finchley Road Audi for ten years. Still a few ex-Dovercourt Audi/Battersea Audi technicians in the back too.

Re: Highly Recommended Audi dealer for RS models
Just to add,
I collected my car from JB yesterday afternoon after them having it for the week. I had a phone call first thing on Friday morning to say they had cocked up & not ordered in some parts that were due to be fitted, and that they were very very sorry.
In my mind, being totally honest & open is / was the best approach. I wasn't in need of the car back, so there is no need for me to be a cock & moan about it. People make mistakes, it's how they handle them that matter. Some might see this a poor, but I disagree, the guys were excellent once again in their communications to me & were also very apologetic. From my side, thats much more than the experience I have had from other dealers! The car was spotless once again, even though they 're getting her back on Monday morning to have the final bits of work completed.
9/10 guys (one point deducted to the plonker in parts that forgot to place the order!!)
One other plus, Joe Macari has just opened his new showroom just around the corner. Driving past I spotted at least 4 Zondas amongst many other motoring porn. Think I'll take a proper look on Monday when I return.

More praise for Jack Barclay from me.
Chris and his team last month replaced the clutch on my Dad's S4. Other work was done too including a major service.
Also had a nice stroll around the workshop.

its not a suprise.
Jack Barclay are part of H R Owen.
They whole business is centred around the best, its in the culture.
Where as when you have a large PLC group who may have less than desirable focus on the best, you get a different level of customer care.
