Coilovers

Post by stuartx » Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:10 pm

Need help guys. Had a full check done on the RS6 I'm thinking about (now buying :-))

The O/S/F shock is leaking so need to sort a new one, they are H & R coilovers.

Does anyone know if you can buy single ones or just a pair at all???????

Thanks again.

Contact H&R for a rebuild kit. Grizz is a supplier, I believe.

Are you getting the current owner to pay up as its his problem? Would be best to change the to Billies if you could.
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

He has traded the car in already so can't do that sadly. Thought I would would have some cash to get my wheels refurbed and also some paint work but seems it will have to go on poss a full set of coilovers unless Grizz can work his magic and get m one. Fingers crossed.

I certainly wouldn't replace just one - you don't want uneven shocks, especially on the front.

H&R's have a tendency to go saggy at the rear by accounts on here, so I would do all four at once....

Of course, you could revert to OEM and re-install DRC..... but then you'd be panned by everyone on here (except me!!) :bigblink:

Oh, and don't forget to upgrade the ARB's at the same time - makes a big difference, and reduces the load on the coilies.

How long have the H&R's lasted BTW - interested to see what the expected life is!

Dave

4 years approx, Grrrrrrr don't want to do all 4 due to cost, would be happy to do just the front I guess.

What ARB's?

ARB=Anti-Roll Bars OR sway bars in some parts of the world.

A rebuild kit should be only offered in pairs, as Dave says, you'd be bonkers to only rebuild one. Your concerns for cost are conspicuous, this is not the car to own if you're worry about costs... how are you finding the fuel consumption?

Fuel consumption is wild but I can live with it doing the mileage I do, which is little.

Whats the best advice on this then? Do front or all 4?

How much are the ARB?

Whats that meant to mean?

I'm only trying to get all the facts before I commit to a car is all. Yes I know they aren't cheap to run as I've had an S2 and an RS2 in the past so know this, just trying to eliminate spending a lot of money from the word GO!

Amar was talking to bam_bam.

Get some FK Silverline and be done with it. H&R are crap. Too low and too hard.

What ones is it you need? There are so many different types etc and none are ever listed for the RS6 as I can only imagine due to them being DRC.
