Came across some Beru RDE001 when looking for a friend. £60 each. That's a bargain.

The site looks legit. He has ordered some, so we will see. Annoyingly I can't post the direct link, but if you go to:

And search for RDE001 then you will come across them.

The site seems to be broken in English, though. When I click the link to the details page, it won't do anything. Works OK in German or French though.

No-one said bargain hunting was easy....

They do the valves, too. Search RDV001 instead of RDE001.

Not quite as cheap but a legit (I think!) UK site.

I have always wondered about the shelf life of these units, as in from the time that they are made, aren't they just losing charge, regardless of being fitted or sitting on a vendor's shelf? I take it that they have a date of manufacture on them?

They "sleep" when the wheel isn't moving so saving power.

Looking at my old sensors, they have a date on them. On the ones I didn't destroy they are 21/04/07 and 27/12/06. So that's about 5 / 5.5 years ago.

I can only assume that this is the manufacture date and that my sensors have already been changed once. The first ones would have have lasted about 4 years, unless there was another reason for them being replaced - which is as probable as the batteries running out: wheel theft/swap, preventive measures, premature failure, etc.

But yes, they will still be using some power and depleting the battery.

The shelf life is massive - they are completely dead until exposed to 24 psi.
Iirc there's a mechanical one way mechanism that connects battery when inflated.
Almost like a 'break glass in emergency'.
But yes once activated they will lose charge.
Shame you can't have a mechanism to build charge from the wheel spinning.

Didn't know that. Although looking at the sorry results of my autopsy there is nothing that appears to be electromechanical on the PCB other than the strain gauge of the pressure sensor itself (presumably).

Shop, did you say you ordered these from the site in the first link? I've been trying to order but when I click on the product it doesn't do anything. Anyone else have this problem?
Also, I have Vag Comm'd my RS6 and it says the front left sensor needs replacing, fair doos. However, how do I know the wheels haven't been switched around at some point?

It's live Amar as far as i know so if you put the dodgey wheel in which ever corner it will tell you.Get it done before you have your wheels refurbed!

Yep, makes no sense to be changing them one at a time, you will be annually chasing corners... While I would love to use my sensors, I simply couldn't afford them at the same time as buying the new wheels & tyres

My mate received his TPMS from rhoox. Just FYI.

Forget that, not spending all that money on tyre pressor sensors, one was okay, but not all four. Have decided to spend the money on a wheel refurb instead, Grizz is sorting it all out, will be mint when I pick it up.
