It's been done before but it seems to have popped back up once again. So what are we all using? Regardless of what fuel you use has it caused you any enginee problems?

I alternate between no ultimate and v bastard, although both garages are only 2 miles from me!
I do worry about the ethanol content as I rarely use the car so the fuel sits there rotting everything it can!

My sit-on mower sat all winter with 3/4 of a tank of fuel in it. When I came to use it the other day it ran like a dog. Chucked the fuel away and put some fresh stuff in, now it runs sweet. I'm convinced it's the ethanol that oxidised into water. Worried about leaving my 6 for any length of time now.

Tesco 99 for me. I wouldn't touch it before when I heard about fuel lines failing but then I was told it was happening with other fuels. V bastard is too expensive by me, about 10p a litre more than Tesco 99 and bp ultimate. Ultimate is only 97 Ron so drive past that to Tesco.
Also, wife says car has ran the worst and got least mpg on v bastard

Sit on mower?! Is it turbocharged, chipped and has waggers?!
My mower works great...when I plug it in!
I wonder how long it does take petrol to go stale though?

Okay, I ticked "Other"...
I use 98 RON here in Australia, usually Caltex Vortex (aka Texaco in UK) or BP Ultimate. It's either 98 or 95 RON, and 95 just doesn't feel right. Petrol situation is like Tesco/Sainsbury/Asda/Morrison in the UK; the duopoly supermarkets here in Australia, Coles and Woolworths, discount petrol by 4c (or more) per litre at many (but not all) Shell and Caltex outlets respectively. I just wonder if the supermarket discounted 98 is as good as BP's 98 - in my Carlsson ML430 I had before the RS6, BP 98 was obviously superior (economy, smoothness), but I've not noticed much difference with the RS6. At least not yet.

I ticked 99. It's harder to find V-bastard where I live now but there's Tesco99 everywhere. I'd always prefer V-bastard though, it's a brand thing.
I mean, just think about it:
- - Shell V-Power, a big red and yellow forecourt with racing pedigree written all over it.
- Tesco99, a gazebo attached to a mooseahive car park full of Vauxhall Zafira's with snotty nosed kids scoffing Cadbury Creme Eggs.
Errrrm, yep, the Tesco99 is the trustworthy performance fuel... just look at it, "Tesco99" - it sounds like something you buy from the Mr. Wippy ice cream van.
/EDIT ...and don't call it Tesco Momentum either, you'll sound like a geek. V-Power sounds like it increases your sperm count, it's what cagefighter's wash their hands with after a fight. Just say it; V-Power, it's a man's word, every time it's said out loud a woman falls pregnant and every time it's written a Unicorn dies.

Have been running Tesco 99 on all my cars for as long as I can remember. When there were Shell stations around here then I used Optimax/V-Power but they all died away and Tesco is 10 mins away. Every car that I have had remapped has been done on 99 and I have never experienced a single fuel quality-related incident. 99 has always performed just as well as V-Power in my experience. I do use Shell every so often, but thet is just to get 150 driver's club points each quarter to get me 2000 bonus BA Airmiles every quarter tbh.
Oopsie, didn't tick 'Mapped'...

If I had the choice I would go for V-Bastard but the 99 is much closer. Never go to BP they are always 10p/L more and as you say only 97

Another reason I don't like shell is cause it powers that big jawed <beep> Alonso's car. Plus it can't be that good cause massa is soooo slow.

I tried mine on water - and it didn't run at all well!!
And I forgot to tick mapped! It made 530 on 8 week old fuel - be interesting to see what difference a fresh tank full would have made!

8 week old fuel
I'd be lucky to get 8 days old fuel in mine. Although saying that mine is used daily.

Normally Tesco99, but have been known to pop any 97 RON stuff in when necessary.
I don't notice any difference in performance or economy between the two to be honest.
Car is in standard tune.

V-bastard or Tescos value

99 for me as that's all that's localish, there is a Total locally that does high octane stuff but it's more expensive than Shell
