Wagners, do I need them in my life right now???

Serious question but I am sure I will derail it perfectly well myself or someone will save me the trouble :D

I have been offered what I consider to be a pretty good "provide & fit" deal by Doug, including shrouds etc for when I go up to them for my new wheels etc etc and I spose I could dig up the readies if I have to right or just go out robbin' now but my question is, do I neeeeeeeeeed them right now?

Yes I want them at some point, especially closer to the summer months but if I get these now that will relegate me to sticking with my RNS-D unit and not going down RNS-E route to keep the DIS.

Yes I have noticed the engine heatsoak issue on longer runs and that is going to do my head in but what realistically will the Wagners do to combat overall engine heatsoak/power loss, if anything? Yes I have seen inlet temp graphs etc but replies from people in the know would be most appreciated as I can;t help but feel that shoehorned engine will not be cool enough regardless.

Also, do I have to lose the foglights? I have seen pics with the foglights in place still, albeit behind the Wagner grilles. Will a map tweak be needed or will the tolerances already be in my map for what should be a fairly minor HP hike really.

Funking you all :)

Go RNS E now, then Wagners when your OEM intercoolers fail, which they will.
RNS E is a lot better then RNS D, apart from the beeech, on the RNS D, she is definitley a lot hotter then the one on the E. HTH.

Lmao Amar, You really had me wondering what the bloody hell you were babbling on about with your second sentence and then the cogs fell in to place! ;) With the lack of miles that I put on the car (I will be amazed if I do more than 4-5k if that this year), I wouldn't count on the intercoolers failing anytime soon as they passed checked in December with no concerns.

Nuts, I might have to sell one of my bikes and that will give me plenty to get the RNS-E setup too and other bits if wanted.

You can keep the fog lights or you can delete them for slighty better airflow.

The beauty of the RNS E on the RS 6 is it is plug and play, you pull out the RNS D with £2-3 stereo removal keys on eBay, and slot the RNS E in. You may need a £50ish kufatec adaptor too. You will get about £100 for your RNS D and maybe even some for your old TV tuner which won't work with the RNS E but it may be useful to someone as they will still be able to use the av inputs to hook in a rear view camera or another video source. On my D2 I had to pull out the speedo, shave it down to size and somehow make the canbus communicate with the DIS. It was hard work but worth it, it really makes the interior feel a lot fresher. I had a reversing camera on my RNS E (as soon as I select reverse - it switched to the rear view cam) I had a 10 disc DVD changer hooked up to it, Audi bluetooth and digital TV and one point. Thee is lots you can keep adding to the RNS E. Luckily the plus comes with RNS E as standard from factory, I am going to probably add the rear view cam to it at least. It came in very useful.

I have the wagners, and they are beautifully made. I deleted the fogs, and went w/ CF shrouds and grills. I was under the impression, that wagners given the increased volume aren't necessary unless you plan on running bigger turbo's....flame if you like, but if your concerned with heat soak, why not a methanol kit.? You can run 50/50, or straight meth and if straight meth, have it tuned for it, the HP gains are immense.

Stephen is right but get them as you know you want them :bigblink: I have them fitted to mine complete with the carbon shrouds etc but I have kept my fog lights as I like them and it makes the car look more standard .......I love the wolf in sheeps clothing look as its much more fun :assflash:

FWIW, only covered 3.5k last year, including a cambelt change within that, and passed 2 health checks in December, only for an intercooler to then go in January... :bash:

Do it footlong, you are rapidly creating a top spec 6! If Doug is rewarding all the custom you have given him of late I say take it!

Standard IC have been knpwn to leak less than 100 miles from new. They are utter pants. You will never know when they start to leak unless you check every day. Eventually your turbos will overspin and die prematurely.

I have logs before / after wagners. On an unmodified car there was no difference in performance or IAT *but* I wasn't testing for heatsoak. I'll have to try again with a more agressive map.

I didn't bother with the carbon shrouds so the wagners are an invisible mod on my car. Wagner to a kit that lets you keep your fogs now, if you want the carbon shrouds.

Can't see the point of an RNS-E especially since you will need the TV tuner to go with it for you AUX inputs, so for the same money the wagners make much more sense to me.

Thanks Ben. The thing is that for the amount of money that we are talking about, I would need to have some decent justification for getting them, as in performance increase or at least reduction in overall heatsoak if at all possible. If I had a garage that I could use I would be venting that bonnet without a shadow of a doubt but I don't. I am not fussed if the turbos go pop as that will be the perfect excuse to fit better ones :).

Ben/Amanda, if at all possible, I would LOVE to see a pic of each of the frontends of your cars (and the backend of whatever Amanda wants, jk ;)) as if one of you guys has the fogs in situ and one doesn't, I can really decide whether to force the issue of keeping the fogs on there.

As for Meth, I just can't be bothered. I got annoyed enough having to constantly fill up the waterspray tanks in my STIs and Evos. Forget messing around with that malarkey :).

Thanks guys for the input so far :)

Mine just looks like a normal RS6. Total stealth installation of the Wagners. YOu would have to get the bumper off to know. OR shine a torch up the scoops and see that the IC is painted black instead of oil-stained black.

Ah no of course, dur, if you don't do the shrouds than no reason to lose the fogs. Not sold on the non-fog look but I could be persuaded.

You can see the Wagner solution with foglight on their site:

Seems to be behind the beehive grill. Not a big fan, really.
