Indicators suddenly stopped flashing, anyone got ideas?
They illuminate and hazards work correctly......
Also got rear ended on A23 on Fri 13th! Not good. Audi assistance promised me 'like for like' hire car.. that should be interesting

Yes, classic fault. Haven't heard of one for a while.

You need a new hazard warning light switch. It'll cost you about £30 and take about 30min to install.

It's funny how these things come in waves... Haven't had one for a while and yet there seemed to be someone posted everyother week with this problem. Same for other stuff like the engine mounts and N75.

Did both the RS6 and the RS4 at the back end of last year.

Trick is not to rush things ;)

There was a tutorial on here somewhere. Quite old now, though. I'll see if I can find it.

Shoppinit wrote:Job done. Not very pleasant. I hate jobs with such a high risk of damaging the trim.

Anyway, for info:

1. Under the strip of trim on which the hasard switch is centered, there are 2 little slots visible. Insert a small flatblade screwdriver into one of these and carefully pull the bottom of the trim out. Don't twist the screwdriver.
2. Do the same on the other side. The trim should now be unclipped from the 3 bottom pressure clips.
3. Your ESP and other button faces may pop off. Mine did. No biggy.
4. Carefully pull the top of the trim out towards you. It's clipped in, and slightly wedged under the dash overhang. I used a screwdriver that I inserted between the buttons and the trim to pull the trim towards me without touching the dash or outside part of the trim. Put the trim to one side.
5. Now you need to extract the switch. It's held in by metal barbs and you need to use quite a lot of force to extract it. I inserted a flatblade screwdriver in the top, and prised it out, using some sturdy foam to stop the screwdriver leverage point damaging the trim. Anyway, it does come out; I was about to remove the headunit to try and compress the barbs, but it popped out in the end.
5. Unplug the connecter and plug it into the new switch. Test it before pushing it back in and reinstalling the trim. I didn't because I assumed that the part would work, but it turns out that these switches are crap and my button is sticky, so I had to prise the trim off again to reposition the switch slightly. It's still sticky, but I don't use hasards very often so I'll live with it for a while. I've got 2 years to decide if I can be bothered to return it :)

Job done. I wonder what causes these to degrade. Mine started playing up then very quickly deteriorated to having no indicators at all.

For info, the part number is: 4B0 941 509K

Not sure if this is the same problem.
When I bought the car - the driver side indicator bulb in the dash did not flash - it made the audiable clicky sound. Outside the car - drivers indicators working fine.
Then one day - bulb in the dash is working... kind of like I imagined the whole thing...

Now, and its quite random, perhaps weather related - hard to tell, but tends to occur more often when not fully engaging indicator stalk in right or left position - ie when switching lanes on motorway, the clicky thing in the dash (noise is fairly central in the dash) goes completely nuts. It then continues in some kind of fit, then resumes back to being quiet again. It tends to do this for several minutes. I got so paranoid my indicators were doing the same outside the car - I pulled over to check - eveything is fine.

Any thoughts.

Could be a bad stalk switch in your case. It'll be either one or the other. I'd still start with the hazard switch though. Column switch defects are almost unheard of on the RS6.

100% the hazard switch with that description. Bought mine on eBay.

Great details as always.
New rear bumper etc getting fitted next week and due service soon so will get it looked at..........offering Audi the info' you provided!
Also..............car started to be really 'floaty' over bumps etc Looks like DRC issues.... :(

Yeah, when 2 tons feels floaty it's a clue that something's not right with the suspension.

Paperwork I have show lots of DRC items replaced about 2-3 years ago so was hopeful..................despite no reason to have any faith in DRC!
Looks like coil overs but have done 100K miles now so not sure about the investmet. From numerous threads I assume talking £2.5 K

Nah, you can get some much cheaper than that. If you can't stretch to Bilsteins, then how about these:

JCViggen's got 'em so they must be ok :)

You're looking at max 4 hours labour to swap them in.

Great thanks so if add another £200K then should cover it?
Audi kindly looking at it for me Friday before they do the bodywork.

Was on motorway today for 2 hrs and when I hit crests/uneven surface etc it was like driving a car from the 70's!!
Makes front end seem so light and corners need much more restraint :)
