New RS6+ owner

Hey Everyone,
Just wanna say that the guys on this forum really know their stuff and I need a little help.
I'm the guy that bought Phil's RS6+ number 249 last year. I love the car and plan to keep it for about 2/3 years. All credit to the previous owner, he's thrown insane amount of money at it and IMO I have picked up a bargain...
I've never managed to proper 'stretch its legs' yet in case I chew up the transmission. How much is a new gearbox + torque coverter (all in - supply and fitted)?
And do I need to get 6 numbers on Saturday night before I even consider converting it to a manual.
Much appreciated
Shane

Welcome and
FON Shane. You have one hell of car there mate well done! I considered v seriously Phils car myself so fair play to you and enjoy. Be interested to know how many other Plus's are actually out there nowadays? Last count was suspected only 70 or so in the UK although obviously 999 were built....

as bam has said i would be very suprised if anywhere near that were produced in the 6 months they were manufactured for, especially as they were a kind of roll out post production model.

Belated welcome and
FON, sound like you have a cracker there!
I did think about the manual route when my TC shat its self, just feel it would take something away from the car (especially an example like Phil's).
Best advice from a relative noobie (less than 2 years in) is enjoy it! RS6 ownership is a bit of a bumpy ride (especially on KW's) but an amazing one!

So whats with the 999 then? Was it down to what was planned to be built then rather than actually were produced? I know someone was doing a pole on here ( cant remember who) a while back and got to about 70 or so actually still registered in the UK.... Not sure what was concluded from that?
If the plaques read #256 of 586 then surely that would make them even more exclusive non and even demand more of a premium to buy non ?

Well, if they'd said x/200 then found they could have sold 600 then they'd look a bit silly, wouldn't they?

I've got number 450/200 - nah, doesn't work
They were less optimistic on the C6 RS6+

Hey Guys,
Bams -Photos don't do the car justice when she's had good clean down. But I do suggest looking at some of Phil's pictures when he had it detailed some time last year. A thoroughbred! I fell in love with her there and then
There are some Epic cars on this forum. Particularly fond of Amar's and Ryan's but that's the only images I've seen....
Indeed I am a newbie. Maybe I'm just paranoid whenever I turn the ignition, dreading the PING/ BLEEEEEEEEP sound argh! I haven't got any warranty and just wanna prepare for the worst. Thanks for the advice Marv8 I won't meddle with her just yet....
Sorry Mev if I got there before you. Been eyeing up a Plus for about 5 months so had to be quick and get in there first!
I will post some pics later on in the week. Cheers
Shane

That no probs Shane you enjoy it.

I decided the car wasnt for me well in advance as my remit was different as is everyones when buying. Your car is special without doubt and a credit to the previous owner but I decided on a non modified example with lower mileage and in a different colour ( Ive had a B5 in Avus) so I could put my own mark and upgrades on where and when I wanted. Others see it as best to having all the essential work done, and I get that!

Im personally not convinced that a heavy amount of mods increase or preserve the value of any car in this market ( if your bothered) but it may appeal more to a forum member for sure. So its food for thought with me and have a few cosmetic things to sort first. DRC replaced with coilovers might be the exception now ( permantly paronoid on every trip) I think and a non res Milly if it sounds 1200 quid better than a Plus sports zorst??. Warrantly however is v good add on of which I cant make my mind on! Let us know which you go for and besides it doesnt exist anyway untill we see it in the flesh.... again
