Multifunction steering wheel

I've got this in my plus, I don't ever use the buttons on my BMW and haven't made use of them even once on this either. I'm not to keen on the way it looks and it feels a bit thin too. Is the three spoke sport one chunkier? I'd love to put a flat bottom C6 one in, but I understand the dual stage airbags aren't compatible and it might look a bit out of place to purists on here.

I'm not a fan of the multifunction wheel looks either. I think the normal 3 spoke looks better. Not a fan of the flat bottomed wheel either (think the air bag looks sh1te)

I love the multifunction steering wheel. I would be gutted if I had the 3 spoke.

You can swap them easily enough if you can find one.

The airbags are an issue on the C6 steering wheels. I think I read a report of someone who crashed theirs hard and the airbags didn't go off.

I don't know how the multifunction feels but the 3-spoke is pretty substantial to hold imo. And it looks fab. The multifunction one, although obviously more convenient, just looks like it came straight out of an A6 2.5 TDI :(

Wish Audi had put a little more effort into that one.

I wish they had too. Would consider a swap but mine is in immaculate condition with only 36k on it so the swap would have to be from a 40k miler or less in perfect condition.

Tried Amanda's RS6, and I can confirm, the normal RS6 steering wheel is exactly how I want my steering wheel to be, nice and chunky. But I have forced myself to use the multifunction controls and they are useful, prefer the fatter steering wheel though. Hmm.

After coming from a fully loaded XJR I was really, really disappointed that my RS6 came with a pretty pants 3 spoke steering wheel with no controls. I did 90% of my driving with just my right thumb as all the cruise controls were on the steering wheel in a really convenient location. The radio/phone controls were in the same perfect location but on the left.

I have to be honest and say that I cannot stand the god awful stalk cruise control instead of having it on the wheel, absolute crap in my opinion and I hardly use cruise now as a result which is a shame. :(

Well the obvious thing to do would be to swap then Mr. Footlong, but your wheel would need to be in mega good condition with no wear whatsoever or any marks etc. Mine is 100% perfect, like brand new.

It is the most ridiculous design of cruise control that I have every seen. Even after years of ownership I find it unintuitive and confusing. They must have been hitting the Jaegermeister pretty hard the night before they designed that.

Amar, sounds like you've found a potential swap partner for your wheel...

I also like the buttons instead of paddles for the tiptro.

Hmm, I looked at this too but is the airbag not working a given or is it a case of have a crash and see if your nose gets driven in to your skull? I haven't seen a pic of the steering wheel that is actually in the Plus or what exactly can be performed from the steering wheel? Pretty sure my wheel is in bootiful condition but would really need to research the pro's/cons before considering taking the plunge. What about wiring etc, is everything already in the older girl to support that wheel?

Bastards, off to search I go again lol ;)

Either wheel will work perfectly well. You seem to be talking about putting a C6 wheel on - those have issue with airbags.

It should be a straight swap then a bit of coding with the Vagcom to get it all sorted.

Hmm ok, thanks :). Anybody know what functions you have access too exactly with the C5 'plus' MFSW?

Volume, change tracks, if you have bluetooth and RNS E then you can have the ability to use voice control, you can still change gear using the buttons and the leather is still preforatted, but you loose the RS6 badge.

Just found the detaails on it thanks. If it looks like this (http://gallery.myff.org/gallery/393533/ ... gWheel.jpg) then I couldn't bring myself to put that in the car I am afraid. While the volume buttons are a bit of a bonus, still no cruise control and please don't take offence but it doesn't win any beauty contests either in my eyes at least.

Yeah, its a nasty looking thing imo. Horrible to hold too, way to thin.
