Hi all,
Some helpful soul ripped both wing mirrors from my 03 RS6 last night, anyone have an idea of the cost of replacing them? Anybody have any experience with fitting them themselves? All suggestions gratefully received...

A real bummer and the politics of envy is still out there for our beasts or is it for any "euorpean car"?.
But as you have to fit new wing mirrors, suggest you might consider fitting the Aspherical Mirror Set (8D0857535E)Mirror Type Heated

these mirrors provide a wider field of view eliminating the blind spot on the rear as cars approach you to overtake (it does happen). You do lose the automatic dipping function at this price, but retain the heated mirrors.

Dirty scum.
They are expensive, especially with the brushed aluminium finish. You might want to put some body coloured ones on to prevent it happening again.
Ebay is probably your best bet for some mirrors.. You might end up buying your own back

Cheers guys.
Yeah I'm considering some standard looking replacements, they know where the car is now, I'm just worried they'll be back for the the metal ones again..

I thought they were fixed on the inside of the door. They must have well and truly ripped them off. Very sorry to hear this.

The arm is still attached to the pillar, they've sheared off the mirror at the base where it hinges, leaving the hinged part in place and of course destroying the wiring loom in the process so yeah they had a good go at it.
Not sure if it was just vandalism or stolen to order, if it was they are useless now anyway. Thankfully there's no damage otherwise. Now I'm left with a car I can't drive and an expensive repair bill.

That happened to me in 2008.
I think the bill was about £1100

I lost my left hand side mirror to a "vandal" back in Decmber 2010, just out of Perth- happened to be a 5ft grey kangaroo that jumped into my left front mudguard and then slid down the side of the car taking the mirror with it!
The 'vandal' didnt stick around to give his name and address, so i just put him/her down on the insurance claim form as "Mr. Skippy".
Insurance paid the claim for new lh mudguard, lh headlightlight assemby, lh mirror and repairs and repaint all lh side ~GBP 6,300. Expensive cars to bend here in Oz.

Strewth Perth, I get the message!
How fast was Mr Skippy travelling towards the car when he decided to take a closer look?
Got a quote today, new wing mirrors like for like fitted basically £900.... Am now considering the cheaper and less conspicuous option of standard resprayed mirrors. Seems a shame and I reckon I was unlucky but still.....

not really. just did not know how to delete extra posts.
Mr skippy jumped into my lh front side at ~ 10kmh. I was doing ~80 kmh when we made each others acquaintance.

I heard that there are quite a few fatalities from roo strikes. Something about the poor animal going through the windscreen then kicking the occupants to death in its panic to get away. Narsty. Sounds like you had a lucky escape.
