Looking to swap

Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I am a long term fan of the rs6 and think the time is now right to look at one. Back in jan this year I bought a Mercedes cl65 amg. I've spent a lot getting it right (front / rear discs and pads, suspension etc..) and Its running like a dream. The only issue I have is that I don't use it enough because of a wife and 3 kids who always seem to travel at the same time. I wondered where the best place is to look at doing a swap for an rs6. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Bi-turbo V12 W215 or W216? If it's the 215 stay in here, if the 216 ask around in the C6 RS6 forum.

Rule 1. Photos or it doesn't exist.

FON.

Sorry are you asking us to consider a swap with you or want advice on whether its a good idea to swap? As Bam suggests it depends on which model of course but having had AMG's in the past, they have their merits but... I would suggest its a completely different beast and unless its dry, straight and fluffy the Mercs in trouble so we would prob be looking at a lifestyle change or be nudging 50+ to be interested! :) Getting the arse out being an obvious plus however! :) Give us something to munch on? What sort of 6 do you want and why? If your not useing it ( Merc) at the moment whats the 6 intended for a project so modded or stock...? Which what and how is yours set up? Spill the beans big mon!

Friend of mine chopped his 6 for an AMG E63 and never looked back. I've been round the Mercedes World track in one of those and a another AMG 63 (can't remember which one) and while the noise and brute force power of them is good intoxicating, it didn't make me want one, particularly.

Arghhh. Just wrote a long reply and it didn't post for some reason. I am on holiday at the minute and on an iPad.

My merc is a cl65amg - 612bhp. This is a real wolf in sheeps clothes. It's a 2004 with 76k on the clock. As mentioned I don't drive it enough because at the weekend we need a 5 seater. If anyone is interested in a swap I'd be more than happy to talk. Cheers

A W215 then. Probably in the right section but you might not get the swap love that you're after. I think it may be a practically thing, I mean, if I was getting 'divorced' and I was 50, then I'd consider it to keep the heart pumping. That thing must be mental quick!
You might have to go the long way around and part ex one... it's a good forum though, I imagine you're not scared of 'making a car right' so you're gunna love the C5 RS.
BTW - are you looking for a 'loon or an avant?

Yes a w215. Its very much a practical thing. If I didn't need the extra seat then i wouldn't even consider a change right now. This car is seriously quick, added to the fact there were only ever 40 bought into the UK at £150,000 you do feel like you are driving something special. I am drawn to an avant for some reason.

I remember Clarkson writing that it was mind-bending fast with elevenity billion toys. Does it have the cooling seat option?
If I'm being rude tell me to go <beep> myself with a rake, but, what does it 'book' at? To quote a certain golf figure...

It has all the options including cooling seats, keyless go etc... Not sure what it books at. There is a dealer trying to dell a similar one (mileage wise) for £28k im a realist and think it is worth somewhere around the late teens / 20k mark hence wanting to do a deal on a good c5 rs6

Sounds like a monster - 612 BHP! My car sounds like an ideal straight swap for you too. But I'm keeping mine for a good few years at least yet. Pop some pictures up anyway, is it 612 BHP out the box or is it modded?

612 out of the box mate. V12 bi-turbo IIRC. Tuning potential must be epic and very expensive... think bespoke EVERYTHING bar a remap.
My advice, wait until xmas and chop it in for a C6 RS6 avant. It's a better match, newer, more tunable (700+ with some simple zoost and remapping). Unless you really, really love the C5 looks then the C6 is a better starting point with its falling prices, IMHO.

Sounds like a monster, bet it is a real handful in the wet. I couldn't find any for sale so rare indeed.
I too am enjoying watching C6 prices fall. I can see myself going C6 RS 6 saloon or 997 Turbo next, but that is at least three years away.

911 turbos are strange things, just when you think a depreciating model is about to drop a little lower, it appreciates 5k. Leaving you to play the game all over again with the current model. Easier to nail jelly to a fence.

True, didn't 993 Turbos double in value over the past few years?

Nail jelly to a fence. nice comparison.

Yep, 993 is my current guilty pleasure, I need one like a fat kid needs cake. They've kept going up since the moment I started watching them. The 996v1 is your best bet, it's horrible, both the look at and for reliability. It was the stupid non-911 headlights and Porsche still getting to grips with mass production and the water-cooled donks.
