Forum love and all that....

Post by Imola_Sid » Sun Oct 16, 2011 12:57 pm

What can i say?

I haven't been a member for long, only got the '6 on road a few months ago.

I thought the forum was good, a lot of info/help online... That was about it. Until yesterday!

I recently lost both turbos on the car (there's a thread here somewhere), and Shoppinit offered to run a diagnostics on my car as he was nearby this weekend. So i thought why not, will take him 10 mins. Went down and Ben spent 2 hours on my car running tests, switching mafs, removing/refitting the airbox several times! He took time out of his day getting his hands dirty for some stranger on the tinternet! What a legend!

I had changed both DVs and the n75 but unfortunately it hasn't resolved the issue but we have made some progress. Will be changing a few plugs, sensors, and piping next Saturday and will see what happens.

Just wanted to say a MASSIVE MASSIVE thanks to Ben for all the help! Much appreciate man!

Shop is a legend!
I only joined after I bought mine and that's my biggest regret - I love my car but would not have bought it if I knew then what I have learnt on this forum. A quick search on here will give you more info on an rs6 than taking it to most Audi garages (and does not cost £115+vat an hour)
Right o' nice sunny day here down saaath, I am off for a quick spin to hopefully embarrass some of the 50 year old bikers that come out of the woodwork on days like today.....

Shopinnit has already helped me out loads too, top guy. Worth asking Amanda if she will sell you her old turbos as she had some Loba units installed.

Some forums are great .. (A) folks volunteer extensive advice and also offer time and effort and resources

Some forums are medium (B) .. you get loads of advice but never see any one or get any real help

And there are the ones (C) you really think ,, "WHY do I subscribe to this one ?????????????????????????????????"

I'll let folks fill in their A B C ;s

A = when Shoppinit replies to your post and;
C = when bam_bam replies to your post.

Eh, am I right?

LOL No Prons BamBam

C to me is SmartManiacs .. One of the "leading" smart car forums .. last time I posted .. I asked about cruise control retrofit on a 451 Smart as Mrs D had just picked up a speeding ticket in a 30 limit and got a load of responses about how "dangerous it is to use cruise control in a 30mph limit" and one response saying post fit cruise control on 451 was pretty much impossible

B is Porsche Club GB .. generally good stuff and advice .. but no "real" person to person help

A is RS246 and AudiSRS ..

I think he liked it ;) He was surprised how good the finish was (even though the car was pretty filthy lol).

Very much doubt the turbos are gone mate. More likely some sort of sensor/leak. Fingers crossed will get a few things done this weekend.

Oh sorry, I got confused when you said you lost both turbos, I take it that was in the past.

Forums are a great way of meeting like minded individuals you wouldn't otherwise meet. I've helped and been helped by several people on various different Audi forums, it's a great feeling
