4TH RS, now in a 6 :)

Post by Overlord » Wed May 11, 2011 4:45 pm

After 6 months of dismal driving as my B7 RS4 was stolen, I have hopefully found the right car and bough an RS6 C5.

Just in case anyone knows the car, the first 4 characters from the reg are WO04 ***
I bought it from AD Car sales in Coalville Leicestershire but the car had been owned by someone in Linc's.....Anyone we know?

Chuffed to bits with it really, Autobox is smooth and i have just about got used to it.
One pic to start you off :)

Just read through the trauma you had. That must have been real tough.

As a new owner (well, imminent :) ), it just makes me all the more paranoid about where to put the keys when they're not in my pocket.

I'm glad you found some new wheels. Does it have a tracker?

Thanks guys, AD car sales were very good in fairness, they held the car for me with no deposit until i got there, then i drove it home. They gave me top dollar for the jag too.
Did you have issues then chunky?

They would have no prob's holding the car for you mate, they would have been using it to go away for the weekend, thats what they were doing with the one i brought. Not had to deal with them after i drove off the car park so don't know what after sales is like.
Had to have a new number plate made up just before i drove off cause it was incorrect!!
How are you enjoying it? How does it compare to the other rs's/

Yeah i kind of got that impression, but i bought the car the same day so didnt give them the opportunity.
The 6 seems more sprightly than the B7 RS4, i guess both the turbos help, handling I'm not so sure though, perhaps the DRC's are tired or the fact that it weighs more than my wife (She doesn't read these in case you were wondering why I'm so brave lol)
The F1 paddles are an asset, it means you can get relatively good mpg when your not playing, i think i have averaged 21.5mpg since i bought it.
Interior is considerably bigger than the 4 series, 4 up is comfy, 5 isn't a squeeze.
My TV doesnt seem to get a signal, switches on but just snow....any idea's? Nav is fiddly at first but i think i've sussed it now. Why do they have a solar powered sunroof? Then i guess if its dark and rainy you wouldn't want it open anyway lol, but what does the solar panel power?
Its a top spec car with rear window blinds, heated rear seats etc, so overall well chuffed.
I'll attempt some more pictures at the weekend weather permitting :)

Analogue broadcasting is finished in your area?

Fans to circulate air into the car from outside. To try and keep it cool. It doesn't do anything else at all.

Sorry, my mistake, it sucks in lots of moisture when it's raining and makes it look like there's a nympho convention taking place in your car.

Pretend it's already June. Problem solved.

Wire up a DVD player or a digital tuner to the old tuner. It's easy enough to do if you want moving pictures in your car.

Overlord sounded like a porno name to me :)

You'll see what I mean the first time it rains and you leave the car outside ;)

Haha.

Is there a thread on the digital TV tuner mod or DVD?

There's a lot of info floating around. The cheapest option will be to get an aftermarket Digital TV tuner and the 15 quid kufatec adapter so that you can get the output and sound into the headunit.

The most expensive option will be to get the Audi Hybrid Tuner and RNS-E but then you're paying silly money for something that's as useful in an RS6 as a chocolate kettle.

I have used the TV in my RS6 once in 2 and a half years. I have used the DVD player a couple of times when waiting at airports, etc. but have never managed to finish that first DVD.

I can't help thinking that the money you would spend on TV in the car would be better spent on a MRC tune...

Doesn't mean you can't get TV in the car cheaply. There are plenty of DVB units that are reasonably priced and other than the kufatec adapter, everything else is in place. Same applied for DVD changer in the boot. Plus there's plenty of space under the tuner to hide a TV tuner. Audi also thoughftully provided a space above the CD tuner for a DVD changer. That's where mine is. :)

Another option: wire in an iphone / ipod AV dock instead. Then you can dump films to it to watch in the car.
