what are the costs of this stuff?

Why not look at Opie Oils' website, or give them a call

I think Mav is based in NL. Would that be an issue to use Opie?

Didn't know (No profile, or sig ). Maybe Opie is not going to work out cheap enough, but might be useful as a guide

Peugeot or Citroen will probably be the cheapest. It's all the same stuff.

You need:

5 - Gasket - 01L 321 371
8 - Plug and seal - 01L 321 371
10 - O ring - 01V 321 379
28 - Strainer - 01L 325 429B
29 - Gasket - 01L 325 443

Don't think anything else is necessary.

The consequences of getting this operation wrong are severe. Don't attempt it if you're not confident of what you're doing. Not for the sake of a couple of hundred quid. I'll have a go at most things, but I got Audi to do the ATF change for me.

But in answer to your question, you won't damage the box if you drain it when hot. You might get burned if you're not careful, though. Obviously, the engine must be off when draining;

My feeling is that if it's hot, you'll get more out because 1) it'll be more viscous and 2) it'll be less dense.

Shop, do you mean less viscous; as in thinner?

Need to do an ATF flush as part of the warrenty on the box rebuild.

Called Opie's Oils; they are recommending as their better option Fuchs Titan ATF 5005.

Is this OK?

No, don't do it. Use the proper stuff from one of the above-mentioned places. If you needed a blood transfusion and were AB- you wouldn't want some O+ even if it came from a body building champion with an IQ of 200+.
