I've been toying with the idea of compiling a list of useful info and procedures for the RS6. The aim is to get as complete a list as possible and have it made a sticky so we can all find it easily. I've made a start. if you can think of any then please add them to the list.

Air con diagnostic mode
Shoppinit wrote:Right, this is what you do:

Ignition on
Press and hold recirculate (the top one)
Press and release the up arrow (vents)
You should see C on the left display and 06 on the right. Or similar numerical value.
Use the driver's passenger side temp +/- buttons to navigate to channel 34 and press recirc to select. On the right the coolant temp will be displayed.

Key Fob remote matching
Shoppinit wrote:Put new batteries in remote.

Press any button on fob.

Within 10 seconds lock or unlock driver's door with key.
If that doesn't work you will need to follow the Vagcom procedure.

Oil system pressurising after long time standing
Pull fuse 29 and turn the engine over for about 5 seconds to prime the pump. Put fuse back in and start normally.

Headlight adjustment procedure with Vagcom / VCDS - Xenon Range
Shoppinit wrote: 1. Connect to xenon range (55)
2. Go to basic settings
3. Select group 001 then GO. It'll say 'adjust headlights' or something similar in the measuring blocks
4. Physically adjust the headlights (obviously you need the proper gear for this and the car needs to be level)
5. Go to group 002 and GO
6. You're done.

Good idea

Also what is the recommended spark plug gap? no mention of it in the thread and various forums suggest various gaps.

In fact, it is explicity forbidden to change the gap on the packaging; I know cos I'm looking at one now :)

This is a great idea guys, sorry I dont have anything to contribute yet, but if there is anywhere which has engine part diagrams (such as the ones you posted the other day for my coolant leak Shoppinit - thanks!). A link to that would be really useful!

What about MAFs and N75 valve? Not sure if these are preventative maintenance type jobbies, I just know they seem to pop up a lot, but if the are a 'how to' would be nice?

This is kinda covered in the plug change tutorial. The biggest part of the plug change job is getting the airbox off.

When the airbox is off, the N75 is exposed. And the MAFs are on the airbox so easy to change.
