cv boot replacement

I'm about to replace a front outer cv boot but according to the instructions i'll have to remove the upper suspension links in order to remove the driveshaft from the hub. This is a bugger of a job from previous experience and I was wondering if anybody knows whether it's possible to remove the driveshaft without disconnecting the links from the hub carrier? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Disconnecting the bottom arms will allow you to do the job. I changed a boot on my old A4 without disconnecting any arms so that might be possible to.

As said disconnect lower arms, and you'll be able to do the job adequately
