Has anybody here fitted a remote engine start system (like a Clifford) to their RS6?

I have had Clifford remote engine start systems fitted to my other cars and wondered if there are any issues with the RS6.

what could be better than hearing the roar of your own beast awaking, from a distance

whenever my missis drives the beast on her own (not often), i keep the house door open and listen intently from just inside - is this sad ??

Be very careful with this, to get this working on the RS6 you have to get round the immobilsor, and as far as i am aware the only way to do this on our cars is to keep the immobilisor dis armed at all times, thus this will void your insurance and make it easier to steal.
The only reason i know this i has this on one of my previous cars 10 years ago a vauxhall calibra, and they had to take out the immobiliser for it to work.

It's not pointless.. hearing the car start up from a distance AND knowing your walking into a warm car with an engine that is also run-in (i.e. not driven from a cold start) is comforting (especially in these cold months)..

I am aware of the immobiliser issue BUT the Clifford alarms do come with their own dual (or triple) immobiliser. Therefore, it can be argued that the aftermarket mod is an improvement to original. Not sure how the insurers would like it though.. will have to pass it by them.

Letting an engine sit at idle on a cold start does more harm than good.

It's best to get it up to operating temps as quick as possbile.

Because it spends a lot more time being cold, which means running rich, which means washing more oil off your bores than with a stoich mixture.

Ideally you start it, and within a few seconds drive it at low revs without loading it up too much. Operating temp is reached quickly this way and the hurtful cold engine period is minimized. Also your cats (if you have them) will thank you. They're not cheap to replace either.
