Getting a clunking noise

When going over bumps and stuff I get a clunking noise from the front passanger side suspension. It doesn't happen all of the time but you can notice it when it happens. While the car was in at Audi for service I asked them to checked it out but they couldn't find anything obvious.
I'm looking for something common on this one, as I don't fancy forking out to replace all of the suspension components in an attempt to fix the problem. Only to end up finding out it was something else. To me it sounds like either a bush or maybe a loose ball joint.

I'm guessing you are still on DRC - if so is the problem worse when you first start, or the same all the time??
If it's worse when cold then it's DRC related - if the same all the time then sounds like a bush going, or possibly CV joint. Best bet is to jack it up and see if you can locate the loose bits!

Thanks Dave.
Still on DRC, to answer question it's about the same all the time. I feel it's a bush as it comes and goes, there is no pattern to it. Do I take it there are no common bushes that go and cause the clunking noise when on the way out.
I was going to jack the car up over the weekend, but was hoping to have a good idea of where to look at. Every time I'm tried to find a noise in the past you seem to find something everywhere you look.

Hello,
Did you get this sorted? I have exactly the same thing but mine is on PSS9s.
It's been to the garage and had the inner suspension arms replaced (with bushes) but it made no difference.
Thanks.

have yuo changed the upper suspension links?
Might be your suspension top mounts, too. Sounds like a bushing problem to me.

Another source of odd clunking is a loose steering rack. The bolts have an annoyiong tendency to unscrew themselves.

My problem turned out to be a lower control arm needed to be replaced.

I had a clunking that got progressively worse, and I have KWv3's. Turns out my steering rack bolts were removed, and not replaced...they were loose....as well as my under carriage bolts, which also needed tightening. I ended up buying all new stretch bolts. Matter fact, I have spacers and wider tires and the loosened bolts ruined the bushings on my lower control arms. They were only 6 months old.

Good result. Nice cheap fix. Well, cheaper than DRC

The DRC was also screwed and replaced as well.
