Difference between PS2 and PS2-R01

Does anyone know if there is any actual difference in the regular Michelin PS2 and the PS2 R01 Audi homologation? Funnily enough the R01 are 10% more expensive

I remember reading that it was something to do with shape of the sidewall on the inside edge, to stop the effect described in this thread:
http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=80811. I wouldn't mind knowing how to identify the R01, to see if I've been sold the regular ones as I suspect I have.

Easy enough to identify. Says R01 on it just after the size!

I can take a photo of it later if you want.

Yeah please, if it's no hassle. I'll take a look at mine at lunch.

Not quite where I said it was, but it's there:

Great stuff, I'll take another look tonight, but I'm 90% sure it doesn't say that on mine - the photos I took don't show that part. It does say "Extra Load" after the size though.

OK, I've had another look and mine aren't R01. They've got the same little oval on the sidewall but there's nothing in it. Is there anywhere on the net where it definitively says that the RS6 should have the R01s?

I personally don't think it makes any difference. It might be interesting to compare tread patterns.
In theory, if you don't put homologated tyres on your car then your insurance might be invalidated (in the same way as if you put mintec pads on, or bilsteins). Maybe this is why they exist?

Well I've had the trouble where the inner section wears through to the stitching well before the rest of the tyre has reached a reasonable lifetime - due to it rubbing on that arm. Is this because it's not the right tyre? I've also had to take it back twice for existing tyres which had slow punctures to be refitted and resealed, since they had no actual punctures. Is this also because they're the wrong tyres I wonder. If I can find something definitive that says they should be R01 on the RS6, then I'll be asking for their incorrectly supplied tyres to be swapped out - at their cost. I just need to find that link..

I certainly haven't had this problem. My tyre wear is nice and even.
Maybe you should call Michelin? I had a look at their site, but the PS2 isn't even on it!

If it's wearing on the inside wall near the rim in a sort of groove, then it's touching the "Knobbly bit". If however it's the inner running surface that is wearing, then it's the alignment that's out

The wear has nothing to do with the tyre rubbing on the arm ....

Do you mean it's something else, or that my terminology was wrong and I shouldn't have said arm when I meant that knobbly bit?
