Has anyone on here fitted a longlife exhaust to their RS6 or does everyone go the Milltek route?

Most have gone either Milltek or MTM route.

There are a few custom systems knocking about but not many.

In terms of cost, there is a difference but not huge.

The quality of some aftermarket fabricators is questionable - as is their expertise with exhausts.

I'm quite keen to upgrade and 'liberate' the V8 soundtrack

I think the original system is pretty "long life" anyway - 7 years, 108K miles, and as solid as a rock!

I like the look of this company and the product. I had a handmade system made for my Ur-quattro some years it was fab , certainly would look into it again if needed.

Only because it is more convenient in terms of an out of the box solution.

A custom fabricated exhaust is always better fitting and bespoke to each application and you can have it as loud or as quiet as you need.. without the drone and boominess of a Milltek

Plus not fogetting the cost savings too...

Longlife are not bad at all in general, but it all depends on the fabricator at the end of the day.

Other options are Blueflame and Pipewerx, who have done RS6 systems in the past and deal a lot with VAG cars.

Don't forget BN pipes. Quite good I've heard.

Didn't realise there was such a wealth of options for our cars. I've been resisting the Milltek because the ones I've seen demonstrated are too loud inside the car (though beautiful from outside).

Can anyone recommend a system that can barely be noticed from inside on a motorway run but gives bystanders the impression that all the demons in Hell have been simultaneously unleashed upon gentle application of the loud pedal?

I have the MTM 'dual tone' exhaust with the valves and think it is fantastic, beautiful sound outside, just loud enough inside not to be a distraction. Word of warning though, seriously expensive to buy brand new, a lot more than Milltek...

Are those the ones with the valves on the backboxes to open a straight through portion after X rpm or on demand?

The valves on my car were set to open at 0.7bar of boost pressure, or you could set them to be open all the time by bypassing the pressure switch under the bonnet. It is also possible to open and close them on demand by activating a switch on the dash, but that system was not fitted to my car. Anyway, I chose to have them open all the time because the noise is too good to miss

Yep, the previous owner spent an absolute fortune on the upgrades, he fitted the MTM568 kit, but did it in stages rather than all in one go, and he also fitted the Movit brakes and other stuff, he spent something like £25,000 according to the receipts he gave me! I've had the car 2 years now and its been an absolute pleasure, but to be honest would never have spent that amount of money myself on the upgrades.

^^^ all of those people who report 550-600 hp for 27p, please take note of the above post.
The last time i looked at this 568 upgrade it was £15k from MTM. an AWFUL lot of work.

Do you (as your name suggests) really blast it around skye..... I have a re-occurring dream of the road between Portree and Staffin....
