I see alot of talk about sat nav/ tv in RS6's. There would be two kinds from what i can gather. Which is best and will they both work after digita change over ? How do i identfy each and are they interchagable etc. Is the fitment each age related or a factory option ?

Thanks in Advance

You can upgrade to an RNS-E head unit and then add a digital tuner but you wont have much change from £1500

They both do more or less the same thing, but the RNS-E is more evolved and will play mp3 from smartcards and makes bluetooth integration easier, I believe.

The tuners on both won't work after the switch over. Not sure if the RNS-E has an external tuner like the D. Or if it does whether they are interchangeable. Can anyone confirm?

There are digital tuners available but they cost an arm and a leg. You could always get a 3rd party tuner and use the Aux Video in to displayt he TV image. Easy with a cheapo kufatec cable.

Yeah the RNS-E does use an external tuner and it's not the same as the RNS-D one (located in the boot). When I switched to RNS-E (much better incidentally), I didn't bother changing the TV tuner too since I didn't really use the TV feature, plus it was expensive and difficult and as you say, it wouldn't work after digi change over anyway. There are newer units now though, that handle DVB-T and ISTR that CraigyB fits ones from the new TT when he does his installs.

knappsimon, why are you selling your RNS-E??? What are you planning to replace it with???

I still have an RNS-D, which is ok but I do miss the much imporved mapping abilities on the E, which I had on my A4. Let us all know when it's available please :-)

I read the thread - did you get anywhere with your case afterwards or... I read the part about a small claims court and I think that would be your best route as the chap (forget his name) quite rightly points out that a court would expect you to mitigate your loss and 5k or under is a sensible bracket. I heard of a flood damaged engine being sourced from unit 20 for around that mark. You can download the claim forms from hm stationary office and list the claim.

Unfortunately this has all happened in Italy. My lawyer has given them notice to refund the purchase price by the first week of january other wise we will have to go to court about it. The lawyer says there is no possibility the dealer could win but we just have to wait to get my money back...so now looking at all the RHD rs6 in the uk and also the 4.4 supercharged range rover sport...
