No bass when playing cd-changer (i-pod adapter) in RNS-D

Post by PoRToS » Thu Sep 17, 2009 12:18 pm

Hi everyone!

I'm what you might call a long time lurker - started reading the forum about a year ago and have driven a -03 RS6 for 8 months now. 8) Bought the car using the tips from the forum :P

Have had the odd problems with it, but most of them solved with a little reading the forums and the net.

But this one is bugging me and thought I'll give it a shot by asking here for help!

So the problem is my cd-changer interface (now changed to an OEM ipod adapter) and the lack of bass from it. While listening to the radio I can easily hear the very agreeable lower end production that is coming from the boot and the subwoofer, but when listening to cd's (at first) and my ipod now (after the change) there is very little bass, if any.

First I had thought that my cd's that I had burned myself just had lost their bass somewhere, but now I have the same thing with the ipod aswell... So it was not the cd's then.

SO:
Is there a setting somewhere to boost the gain of the subwoofer when using the cd-changer? (I know that the settings are per source in the Tone-menu and have maxed the base in the changer mode)

Or is this just a feature of the RNS-D? :?:

- A newbie from Sweden!

Weird. I've got my iPhone playing through the RNS-D and it's fine. What is the aftermarket kit and how did you fit it?

It's the one from Audi. And I fitted it by changing the leads in the connector according to the instructions that came with the adaptor.

But it cannot be the adaptor, since I had the same problem also with the cd-changer when it was working...

Weird...

Try posting in the electrical section. Maybe one of the gurus will be able to help you. We're all useless in the RS6 bit ;)

OK - I'll ask the obvious, but I think that the tone settings for each source can be set independently, I think - have you checked that?
