Finally Got Car Back After 5 weeks For New DRC

Post by rob8457 » Sat Sep 12, 2009 11:00 am

Picked car up yesterday after being with Bristol Audi for 5 weeks for the new DRC and valves i think they have finally got it right the car feels nice and tight not to hard a ride, the stance is slightly higher on back but they have told me to run it for 500 miles then take it back for them to check over, its been a nightmare they just could not get it right the front shock on drivers side kept exploding and they could not work it out, they came to the conclusion that the tool they were using was the latest charging one but the technical instructions from audi of how to use it was misleading, so they reverted to use the old tool for charging the system up, the other one would not vacum it properly, they have renewed all 4 shocks the 2 control valves the metal piping and internal control valves as well so pretty much everything, ohh forgot to mention while they had car they scratched the front bumper so it needs to go into body shop for them to sort out i am pissed off about that. Can i recommend Bristol Audi well i am pleased with there information they gave me the service manager and pretty much everyone kept me informed all the time its just the technical side of the DRC which they could not get right ohhh plus the scratch on the bumper, will wait and see how it goes for now fingers crossed, i will post the ride heights later.

Spoke to Rob at Camberley on Friday. He confirmed rear is higher than fronts when suspension replaced but it will settle over time. mine did seem to have settled a tad but now ive jacked it back up so cant measure it for a while.

tell me about it! if it had been anything other than the brake bleed screw i would have been happy with my repair. but it just wasnt to be.

glad the suspension is (fingers crossed) finally sorted. sods law about the scratch though. you are right, nothing ever seems to go smoothly for us does it!!!

hopefully we are both within sight of the end of the very long dark tunnel!!! lol

at least i was able to drive it for an hour or so on friday evening - thinking to myself 'its well worth it in the end' with a big grin on my face!!!

I had my 2004 car done in June, having just completed 57000kms. It took about the same time as yours except I had the cambelt and ancilliaries replaced, new pads and 4 new discs (with grooves). The rear ride height is 14.5 inches as specced and the ride is perfect. The work was done by Vinny at Audi Bruma here in Johannesburg and it came back better than new. I say if the technician has the time, with the correct parts and the right tools all should be good for a few more years.
