Warning upon ignition?

This is a weird one? I'll attempt to explain it below...

1) I fire up the ignition as normal,
2) If I then stick the gear into D or R (and I assume S altho not tried this yet) I get the circular warning exclamation mark on the dash.

If I;

1) I fire up the ignition as normal AND THEN WAIT 5 / 6 SECONDS (in Park) before sticking into D or R the warning doesn't happen...all is well?

I'm not too worried about it just wondered if anyone else had experienced it or if there's an easy way to rectify. No VAGCOM i'm afraid so I don't know the formal problem...

cheers

Low battery.

I think. This used to happen to me, I think the exclamation mark is the brake warning.
Leaving the engine running for a few seconds allows the battery voltage to rise again.

Upon firing up the beast, the ABS needs to fire itself up. It beeps the warning to inform u that the system has not fired up properly. It's a design fault so nothing can be done. Won't harm the car tho. Just bear with it or wait that extra couple of seconds fella.

It did it all the time Paul, and the Audi dealers told me it was normal.
