the sticky at the top of the forum is quite easy to follow, I have been told.

i will probably be fitting bilsteins shortly, so can let you know.

I did it myself. It's pretty easy. You can do it with axle stands. You do n't need anything special for the DRC. Just unscrew it from the shocks and blank it off if you want - if you think you might want to put the DRC back on for some strange reason.

The sticky is missing a lot of vital information. It can't remotely be considered a guide.

I've wondered if it brings up any warning lights on the dash when DIY'ing the DRC removal, does this happen or does the car not care it's gone? If it doesn't I'll be doing it myself for sure.

The DRC system on the C5 RS6 is purely mechanical so no warning lights will be shown.

Yes, but be careful with the height sensing levers which are fragile and shouldn't be removed / unplugged. I had no warning lights at all. Only thing I had was strange vibrations because out of the box the bilsteins are set too low. At least mine were.

One of the questions I had difficulty finding the answer to was what happens when you unscrew the DRC pipes, ie will a pint of hydraulic fluid be injected directly into my bloodstream. In reality, barely a dribble comes out, even on a pressurised circuit.

It turns out that there's some kind of valve which slams shut when you remove the pipe. Presumably to facilitate changing struts.

I had to hacksaw through one of my DRC pipes after rounding the stupid 12mm nut. Once you've sawn it, there's no going back :) Felt kinda good, truth be told.

No offence, but the whole purpose for me when I fitted my Kw V3s in my RS6 was to delete the DRC issues that my car was slowly going to have, and also improve the handling. You can install them coilovers yourself, however I would suggest getting it set and aligned correctly by a suspension specialist. No point fitting coilovers if the car isnt balanced properly, and tyres are not aligned.

No offence taken, i would have thought the coilovers would be pretty much bolt on, what sort of adjustment is there in the alignment?? and damping/recoil settings are adjustable anyway? What do you mean by balancing?

I may be a naive, but i just cant see it being that difficult!!

If im wrong please anyone let me know!!

Cheers, spanner

They are easy. No more difficult than any other and easier than a lot.

As with anything that changes the ride height, you need to ge the tracking / wheel geometry adjusted afterwards. Let the suspension settle for at least a month before doing this though.
