Do insurance companies actually know what an RS 6 is ?

just had Elephant quote my renewal premium on my incoming S4.

they quoted an INCREASE in premium over the RS 6 of £420 !

the RS had 100bhp more, worth more and surely more desirable to thieves ?

needless to say I wont be renewing with them.

these are the same people that gave me a £150 refund on my premium when I switched from my TT QS which had 200bhp less !

:bash:

I had a similar thing when I was looking for insurance last month.
One website gave me a quote for an S6, and when I corrected the make of car to an RS6, the premium went down....

It was cheaper for my RS6 Avant than an S4 or an S6 saloon!

so it seems it is the case - they simply must not understand what car it is ? or is there a higher risk profile attached to, say, an S4 ?

I dont know how insurance works, but on the face of it its not logical

It's all about risks and statistics. Possibly the RS6 represents too small a data set.

Or maybe RS6 owners are more likely to garage them, fit trackers, and generally take more care than say a TT owner?

There's another thread on premiums etc but I was quoted between £450 and £501 from a selection of 3 popular firms, Priviledge, Admiral and Adrian Flux. NU quoted me unhappy at £915 but the free 7 days insurance was worth the pain endured with the Indian call center!

God what ever you do dont buy into that "Quote me happy" boll**ks!!
The Quote might make you happy but their service should you have to make a claim is shocking!!! My advice. When you find a quote you like the look of, give them a ring and ask where their Claims Department is? If like "HAPPY" its in India, then try your next favourite!!
