Tyre pressures with 275/30/19's

To all those running 275/30/19 on their RS6's, what pressures are you running?

The reason I ask is that I recently had fitted Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas in the above size, and whilst they are fantastic tyres and offer incredible grip, I have found that if I inflate them to the same pressure I had the 255's (44psi), they feel rock-hard and crashy. Should I reduce the pressure a bit?

There are posts in the RS4 section about this and the general concensus for the B7 RS4's on 275's is 40 front and 38 rear, but the '6 is a heavier car so I'm wondering if those figures still apply.

Basically, the sticker on the fuel flap says 44 all round for 255's but there is further confusion when I do a search back through old threads as there seems to be a difference in the actual fuel-flap stickers. The 'Plus' one seems to be slightly different to the non-plus in that its pressures are higher anyway.

But just ignore all that crap for now, I'd just like to know:

a) How many are actually running 275/30/19?
b) What pressures are you running?

Cheers,

Mo.

hi m8s,

Put same tyres on my RS6, Vredestein web site advise 46psi front and 49 rear on 19" wheels.
thsi is shown for 255 tyres, but i've mailed them and reply has been : 275, same pressures till it's on 19" wheels.

Feels ok ;-)

Ok guys, I'm starting to have a pants cacking sensation at the prospect of having to put even more air in these tyres....

I went to that site which the Vredestein site redirects to and sure enough, it is 46 and 49 - FOR 255's!!!!! I kept going down the list until I got to a car that had 275/30/19 as its oem size and guess what? FECKIN 51 PSI !!!

I'll need one of those biddy driving cushions to protect my coccyx bone not to mention the entire chassis shaking itself to annihilation :rocker:

I could always use this on those days when I need a bit of comfort:

Anyone fancy commenting on how stupidly high pressures the Vreds seem to need? 46,49,51????? I do not understand how this can be. :?

Max rated inflate pressure for the PSS2s is 50... 40 gives very even wear for my driving.

I have a theory as to why the Plus lists higher pressures. Could it be because it is heavier than a normal RS6? Carfolio kerbweight for each car as follows: RS6 saloon at 1840kg, the Avant at 1865kg and the Plus at 1880kg. I think the extra weight on the Plus is because it has a couple of extra intercoolers to improve cooling. Maybe that's what the plus means - plus some weight

In any event, I will still try 40psi all-round and just see how she rides. Whatever it's set to now (garage said 44), it's a tad too firm for everyday driving - especially with the current state of the roads.

Which reminds me, have you seen the state of the damn roads lately!? They are absolutely mullered!

Yep, hence why I have 2 buckled MTM wheels in the garage... oh for forged wheels.

Hallelujah!

Lowered the pressures to 40 all round today and the difference is unreal. I've got my nice comfy ride back and still not a hint of tramlining. 3 of the tyres were at 45 and my o/s/f tyre was at about 48! No wonder the car felt rock hard! Handling is still fine also.
