What's it worth - Avant with 120k in Mugello

An old chap I know is going to swap his Mugello RS6 Avant for a B7 RS4 and wants to know what it's worth.
It's hard to value due to the miles - 120k.
It has FASH and isn't mint but not wrecked either.
It has nav.
He's having wheels refurbed, tyres are good, it's generally tidy.
He's had two DRC fixes.
Any ideas on trade or private sale?

That would be interesting to know actually. Mine is just coming up to 100K but it has just had a full service with Cambelt, Coilovers etc. It's in really good condition. Not wanting to sell though.

Assuming its an 03:

Trade in values are

Excellent condition: £9210
Average condition: £8230
Below average: £7290

So private around 10-10.5

I bet it's in better condition than the cut n shuts (sorry accident repaired) that have sold on Fleabay for £13k+!

Sorry - it's a 53 and is a genuine example last sold by Audi.
Thanks for the pricing info, roughly what I thought, just not much else to get a grounding with with those miles 8)

the age old problem is there is no god given value - its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. These are often given guidence base on what the trade is buying them for. However in current extra ordinary times noone is buying these gas guzzling, costly to maintain beasts - therefore the price reduces. So whilst this example, im sure is very good, should be worth more than £10k, that may be all someone (if you can find someone) is willing to pay for it. and unforunately thats the price.

Agree.
But the problem is, some people simply cannot come to terms with the fact their 60k pride and joy, which has religiously been xymoled every week, is now worth just 8k...

It's shocking, that. I'd imagine it would more in a private sale, if it is a good 'un and well-cared for etc.

Like David says, within reason, we determine prices and selling them for next to nothing doesn't help residuals.

Mine's a 2004 (53 plate) with 99,000 miles and well looked after and I would sell it for peanuts as a matter of principal. I'm keeping it for a couple of extra years (especially with our first baby due shortly) and then I'll be getting something evil mwahahaha.

The RS6 is a very practical baby carriage. Room for pushchairs and related jumble. ISOFIX, window blinds etc etc Or, at least, that's what I told Mrs B.

Ah, the baby will love it. Can't wait until it's born and big (and brave) enough for a trip out in Daddy's Westfield.

FYI, you can retrofit the ISOFIX brackets for about £80 yourself. ;-)

The issue faced is that as values naturally drop due to age & mileage, you come to a point where running cost becomes the most significant issue... Could you imagine some poor beggar that goes into the purchase without understanding the issues faced with such a performance beast scrapes together £10k and then within a year face the cost of:

£3,000 Fuel - (12,000 miles @17mpg=3.82mpl)
£800 Insurance
£800 Tyres
£800 Brakes
£500 Service
£500 Warranty
£200 Tax
£100 Tracker
£200 Speeding fine ;)

So that £6,900 running cost for a £10k car.... excluding depreciation.

I know thats a touch pessimistic scenario, but when I had my RS6 my running costs were pretty savage at times (IIRC my biggest direct cost was about £7k of fuel the first year I had it) but it was relative and manageble based on the value of the car at the time and my car allowance/fuelcard from work. Direct costs were high (with more limited independant specialists at that time) but of course depreciation was the highest cost.

Am sooooo tempted to buy another RS6 for the laugh at times, Mrs would kill me :)
