Is it really worth the risk to have no warranty??

Hello all,
After having a good look around on the forum I can't help noticing all the posts about costs of replacing this and that...drc, Gearbox etc! What warranty will cover me best for these expensive jobs?

I have had a quote from warranty direct, 800 quid for my 61k rs6 and also have the chance of an aa 5 star warranty for 250 quid, has anyone had any dealings with the aa? other than breakdowns!!!

Why are people on here paying from there own pockets if the known failures occur and there are warranties available??

It just seems silly not to invest Imo!!!

So if anyone has any advice on the best route to take it would be much appreciated.

hmmm, i got a warrenty with warrenty direct, 03 plate, 55k miles and it was only 650 quid, seems odd they have quoted you 800 when its onlt 6k miles diff?
To my mind, its worth every penny, gearbox can be mega bucks (6000ish if i recall), so makes sense to have a warranty!

I've done a lot for warranty direct. Just make sure you keep on top of the service history ......

With this car... I think it's necessary. Oh and you can do better than £800 from Warranty Direct now that a few of us have now taken policies there. PM sent.

Strange you should say that , I've only had one customer with a "warranty wise" policy. And they would not pay out ....

That sounds good news to me about the Warranty Direct, as Ive just taken out a 2 year luxury policy out on mine since my Lister Audi warranty's expired last month.
FYI Lister Audi Group no longer cover RS or R8's since Jan 1st (They are underwritten by Car Car Plan who also do Tesco's warranty, which I see also have also removed all RS cars off their list).
I guess if I have any warranty work in the future I expected I'll be coming up to you now Grizz, as I cant see any merit going back to Audi now I'm no longer tied to them.

Grizz, what exactly was the issue with warrantywise? Why did they refuse? Was it something that Warranty Direct would have paid out on? If so I may cancel my Warranty Wise policy (can do this in the 1st 30 days) and go with Warranty direct.

I am having exactly the same issue, they will not pay out despite jumping through all their hoops.

guys this is really interesting as warranty wise give the impression that its no fuss no quibble etc etc. I have been trying their quotes out on the site.

My audi 'named component' warranty is up in May with 1,200 quid to renew. Can you anyone confirm whether the warranty direct covers leaking drc shocks?

If Audi are quoting £1200, then best take it as its a great warranty, second to none.

I myself have been self insured for 2.5 years, spent £3k though on fixing DRC 1st time, then ripping it off and replacing it all for PSS9's. All other maintenance has been at Audi and they stump up for any of their work that goes wrong within 2 years....... but you have to find an Audi dealer that knows what they are doing on the RS6.

estrop, i went to great lengths with warranty direct before i took up my policy regarding DRC/Coilovers. I was asking for written confirmation that if (when) the DRC fails, that i could get coilovers fitted instead of replacing the DRC with the same <beep> DRC lol. Final word from managing director (claimed to be) was 'if it is the cheaper option then we would be more than happy to look into it'.
Take from that what you will, but with the knowledge that the DRC WILL fail, i am hoping that all 4 go at once and it is then the cheaper option!.
