since not all dealers are the same, a more useful poll maybe which dealers people recommend areawise...

I agree, that would be very useful, and I would happily drive the extra distance where a good experience had been had.
I was just interested in the how common poor customer service is across the UK dealerships . . .

I have used Worthing Audi Service Dept. for my 'old' 8p S3 and now my B7 RS4, and they are excellent - Service is second to none - I have used lots of main dealers and these are the best,by a very long way

I nominate Aberdeen Audi for the title of Worst dealer in the world. As a customer I must be such an inconvenience for them as they are all too busy, sour faced and unhelpful. Not only that but the parts department regularly advise exra work which is completely unnecessary. At 16,000 miles I was told I needed my dics and pads replaced (I said no as I'd just checked them before the car went in) then when it was in again at 20,000 miles apparently only the pads needed done. The girl on the service desk is a moody cow. Porsche couldn't do enough for me - Audi won't do anything. :rant:

Consequently; Withersoon Audi/Volkswagen in Edinburgh were excellent couldn't rate them higher. When my ignition coil failed [thanks Bennets body shop Edinburgh - avoid] the mechanic actually drove across the city to get the part whilst I was given lots of tea and biscuits and it was all done within 1.5 hours. Magic

Ive found dealer experience can be as different as chalk & cheese. As this is my first Audi and only purchased it privately back in April these have been my experiences so far.

Audi Gloucester - Its the nearest dealer to my home in Cheltenham, but ive only been their to purchase oil and get prices/parts numbers for any options my RS6+ was missing like load liners, roof rails etc..
Nice premisses, but didnt feel at all welcome and it was like getting blood out of a stone trying to get any help with parts (Why the hell dont Audi make an accessory catalogue like BMW do - it makes life a lot easier)

Audi Tetbury - Purchased a load liner, but took several attempts to actually get the correct one.
Had arranged to book it in advanced for a 30k service, when a few days before the service was due I had to visit them the first time the intercooler hose blew off (my guess at the time, which was correct).
Asked them to take a quick look, waited for an hour for an engineer to become free then car disappeared for 5 minutes and then came back saying they could not do anything as was most likely the turbo had failed and would need to be booked in for a strip down (my guess is they did nothing with the car). They then noticed the MTM badge on the back and immediately blamed the cause of the problem on being that. Very Un-helpful and extremely expensive.

As they gave me a story where parts would be needed I thought it was best to travel to one of the Lister group garages as the warranty on the car was one of their own so it would be less hassle.

Audi Worcester (Listers) - Couldnt of been more different experience.
Gave them a call very late that evening, they booked the car in for 8:30am the following morning at short notice. I left the car with them for the morning and as it was a nice day (and could do with the exercise) proceeded to have a walk into to Worcester centre for a bit of site-seeing. Only to find I didnt even get that far, as had a call within the hour saying the car was already fixed (As I first thought, the lower hose had just came off the intercooler).
When getting back to the service department and asking for the bill, I was told there was no charge (wasn't a big enough job to make a warranty claim so they had just done it free).
So pleased with the level of helpfulness I asked how much a 30k service was, only to find they where over half the price compared to Audi Tetbury wanted to charge me.
It was a no-brainer to cancel the service with Audi Tetbury (who where local to my work) and travel the 70 miles to Audi Worcester. (When the 30k service was done they even gave me a further discount)

Since then I have always gone back to them as Ive also been made to feel welcome, prices are reasonable for a official dealer and have had the best dealer experience I have had from any dealer even though I didnt buy the car from them (although I did find out it was supplied by them from new to the first owner).

Its currently been in with them over christmas to have a new gearbox fitted (warranty claim) and a new rear bumper (insurance claim), so should get it back end of next week.
If it wasn't for that the car is low milage and full warranty I would of used a independent like grizz etc.. but I have to give a big shout-out to Audi Lister in Worcester as they have restored my faith that there are some good official dealers still out there.

comforting to hear there are some dealers out there who value customer service.
Any good stories near north london ? Iv used Essex Audi (docklands / chingford etc) and im not very impressed to say the least

LOL i have a serious dislike as well, i put the car in to diagnose a fluid leak, car needed a gearbox sump gasket which was fixed by the supplying dealer from down south but some <beep> took it out for a testdrive, did 20 miles and used a heap of petrol, i was livid, called audi customer services who couldn't do anything, tried speakign to them and they were not interested, consequently i will never be going back, i used volkscentre for a recent camblet change and it was good :)

totaly agree aberdeen audi are the pits, have an S3 and was in for a service in 03 with 18k on it was told i need new pads disc arb bushes and shocks!!!
since then has been maintianed at highland audi inverness who are fantastic, helpful courtious, honest, reliable. eveything a main dealer should be and their technicians know what they are doing as car feels and drives tighter after it has been worked on.

oh and as for the list of parts after a year.... padshave been replaced twice, bushes and disc done last month at 61k and shock well still in same place doing same job and after 5 services at highland no mention of anything.

i can not recomend highland audi enough, well worth the 100 miles each way.

Speak as you find!

The service department at Derby Audi are first class and have always given me excellent service over the years. Sales, well a different (or should I say indifferent) story, they have always over promised and under delivered.

Newton Abbot Audi Approved.


Always polite when handling my RS6 but I'm not confident of their level of expertise.

Exeter Audi - not tried since they moved to new very flash expensive premises but they were very bad when they last looked at my admittedly old A6 2.8 quattro.

Both belong to the same company who also own Plymouth, Taunton and Barnstaple as far as I am aware.

Now contemplating longer trips especially as Audi warranty now finished. Now with warrantywise.

I've been an Audi driver for 15 years.
I've always bought new cars & had servicing carried out by main dealers.
Generally the sales staff are pretty useless ..
1993 Motorworld, Kidlington Oxon, 1998 Alan Day London N3 & RS4 and RS6 from Docklands Audi.
I'm much more impressed with the servicing department. The office staff in servicing have always been excellent & the mechanics have seemed to know what they are doing.
Recently I have been using Whetstone Audi & Heather (now at Hatfield Audi) & Wendy (now left Whetstone Audi) have always been very helpful.
Sales staff at Finchley Road Audi & Mayfair Audi have been incompetent.
