The very latest C5 RS6s - Did they come with RNS-E from the factory?

One of my friends has an RS6+ and it has a factory RNS-E.

Yep all the Plus had them from the factory. But wondered if anyone knew std car ever did (54 plate)

Not unfeasible I suppose, just not heard of another.

There's one for sale here: http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/ca ... 6318140741 which is apparently an 05 plate, but the photos show it's RNS-D.

RNS-E was only factory fitted to the Plus.

RNS-D was standard on the later pre-Plus cars.

YUP from 04 onwards they had RNS-E.
It's all Bollox.

Bet that if you check that manufacture date of that 05 it was built early 04!

Well I've just done a search on AutoTrader for RS6 with 2004 in the title (which brings up a couple of 53 plates?). Anyway, there's 14 matches:

Dunno: 4
RNS-D: 4
RNS-E: 6 (although 4 were RS6 Plus)

So what's the conclusion? That I just wasted 10 minutes I think..

I think it is safe to say that only plus's came with RNS-E. All others came with RNS-D. The conversion is easy so I would not be surprised if it was done to a car.

I am doing it this weekend.

Well you might be saying it's easy now...

Are you planning on doing anything about the TV? I didn't bother with it so I've lost TV functionality but then the analogue signals are getting switched off soon anyway aren't they? Do Audi do a freeview equivilent?

What would I do without the TV? No more Ready Steady Cook repeats at 3am when wating for a ferry crossing, no more Teletubbies when waiting for the Eurotunnel.... I'd be lost without it.

I did see digital TV (freeview) in an S8 which was impressive, much clearer than the fuzzbox analogue reception.

I saw someone offering a complete fitted install with the later dvd system that included the blootooth, freeview for about £1500 fitted.

Craigyb does digital + freeview Audi install (from the new TT) for about £500. And yes it works well and has a good picture at speed.

I'll do without it until then
