CDs for the RNS-D come from Tele Atlas. The 2008/2009 version is £113.99.

Note. If you upgrade to RNS-E (well worth it) you will lose the TV function unless you also upgrade the TV tuner and wiring.

you should be able to get a current disk for about £50, there are some legitimate and reliable sources on ebay, have a search on here and you should be ok.

Hi Phil,

There's some really good detailed info on the electrical forum on the RNS-E upgrade (CraigyB was/is I believe the forum expert in the upgrade IIRC ?). From what I have read you should be wary of the really cheap ones on ebay as there seem to be a few dodgy units/dealers around the place. A great mod I reckon which I seriously considered, but in the end couldn't justify the price - well for now anyway !

cheers

fraser

Think of it as an investment:
Buy now, fit and enjoy.
When you sell the car, remove and sell on ebay for a profit due to even more scarcity!
Win win situation!

yes, it will fully integrate with the mfsw. the latest firmware will also allow voice comands with the mfsw...

if you are doing the upgrade, either get someone to do it for you, or spend the time to know the issues, and do it yourself. a number of people (me included) have taken this later route and it is pretty painless.

1) navplus.us is your friend - go there and read up
2) get a pre-built wiring loom for the configuration you want from one of the vendors on navplus.us e.g. i wanted my rns/e with the audi b/t & ipod kits and to integrate to my caughtbluehanded valentine 1 integration kit. "nsxjr" (vendor) built the wiring loom for me. far far easier than doing it yourself.
3) source the rns/e from a reputable vendor.
4) although you can do it youself, up-todate firmware is nice.

the rns/e does freshen up the car markedly and is a very useful upgrade, even if you're not much into nav - the sound is better, b/t integration rocks, and the sd card interface is good for browsing titles...
