Warranty Direct the truth !

Post by Cobalt » Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:21 am

Well I have just had a new gearbox and It cost me £109.00 !

A lot of work to get it throught the claim but once I gave in to WD they did everything they should have done with no delay or arguement.

My problem was that I paid a premium for the Main Dealer rate warranty and their policy says "we reserve the right to take the vehicle to the repairer of our choice"

In their choice it is a Transmission Specilaist in Bigglewade Bedfordshire !

After a week I knew that WD were not going to pay AUDI to fix it.

So I spoke to A1 Premier Transmissions on 01767 601207 the main man is Dave. Mine was their 5th RS6 and thaty have done a very good job. It cost WD under 3k inc vat and all the friction material was replaced. The faul was a filter assmebly had split and teh box was sucking up air not fluid. Once A1 had done their bit they took it to AUDI for a diagnostic check and a new flash of the gearbox ECU.

It came back to me yesterday am early and is spot on. 1 year warranty with A1 and I would recommend them highly.

Warranty Direct did everything they should have done once it fell in line with their policy. The policy is black and white. There is no grey and they will not do anything else.

Would I buy another WD policy as mine saved me 2k but beware as a claim is not as easy as you think.

LOL, good to know! It took me 9 months to finally get payment from Motorcare Warranties re my suspension/DRC. Admittedly some was the garage's fault as it took them months to get the right invoice to me, but Motorcare took 2 months just to get me the cheque even after they received all the correct paperwork.

I'm with Warranty Direct now...

If you want to avoid the hassles and excesses, and retain Audi guarantee, it pays to get Audi warranty.
Free courtesy car, free valet, and free sweets thrown into the price ;)

...and all for the bargain price of £235 for Audi inspection (+work required) then £2,750 for the first year and £1,750 for each year thereafter.

I don't know about you, but £3k for the first year warranty is a bit steep, especially given that I've already had my gearbox replaced and I don't have DRC... so that £3k is in my savings when/if I need it earning interest.

The first price I quoted was for those of us rejoining the warranty if you don't already have one. The second price (£1750) is for renewal of an RS6 older than 5 years IIRC. £1250 is the price for younger cars. ;-)

Give or take the odd £50 though!

In that case I think it would be cheaper buying a used RS6 from the dealer network.
I think Audi warranty is key if you want peace of mind when running one of these beasts.
I had almost 10k worth of claims on mine within 3 months so it was a godsend.

I've decided to go down the Warranty Direct route. Audi renewal came to a ludicrous £1750 (car now just over 5yrs old). WD offered me a monthly policy (Extracare) with franhised rates for about £65 per month! Thats a huge saving, and the monthly fee is guaranteed for three years. It means I dont pay upfront for a years warranty, and if I sell the car, the new owner has the option of continuing the warranty.

I think this is the best deal out there if your car is iver 5yrs old.

You won't get the reapir done at the Franchised rates as they can always get it done cheaper and reserver the right to remove it to one of their approved repairers.

Extracare is extra cash and nothing else. I am on extracare and this is what happened.

im paying 50 quid a month with warranty direct for there top policy and dealer prices included ( by the looks of things you can forget dealers tho !) it started at 100 a month but i kept saying this is to much, they rang me back every week with a better price. Dont take there first price, they want your money and will drop there price untill your happy!
