Gearbox VAG-COM fault ideas ?
RE: Gearbox VAG-COM fault ideas ?
What's the other fault that is logged in module 2? Any other faults in the other modules?
RE: Gearbox VAG-COM fault ideas ?
perhaps - but could be as simple as a fuse. the shift lock solenoid is designed to prevent selection of a gear when moving out of "p" without the brake being depressed.
check mb1, field 3 of the tcu using vag-com - this shows the value of the solenoid as you move out of "p" and have your foot on or off the brake.
if this fault is persistent (yours isn't), it can trigger a mil and could require tcu replacement, if the fault doesn't lie elsewhere.

these cars are complex beasts and, if you are of a mind, reward an owner who takes an active interest in their welfare. this can also be an advantage in some locations (usa and uk come to mind) where service is, ahh, variable.
in my experience, it always pays to know almost as much as the tech.
i dropped my car in today for a 60k km service. i asked the tech "what weight oil should this take?" (we were talking about back flushing it). queue possum in the headlights look "5 weight, but i'll check" was the answer. but a good guy who is an excellent mechanic, who got the message....
