HELP please!!, spent savings and bought a RS6 3 weeks ago with Milteck and AMD S1 chip but it seems to have lost its "Punch" at about 2,000 rpm overnight. Before it would throw you over into the back seat but now seems to not really come on song untill 3 - 3.5 k rpm and doesnt seem as responsive. There is no undue or extra noises etc but just feels like someone has stolen the chip out the ecu overnight! Was left for a week while on holiday and the battery was low so jumped it from another car, didnt use jump pack. Ocasionally it sems to be back to as i bought it, but then goes back to this prolbem. Has full Audi history and covered 45k miles with last service 1500 ago so hasnt been neglected?? Just wandered if anyone out there has had or can shed any light on this problem or give the name of a good company you knows what they are doing

I dont know anything about technical diagnostics but these chaps CERTAINLY do!

could be loads of things ..... lambda sensors, faulty MAF, leaking boost hose .... etc ....... get one of the specialist to check it .... West Tuning also have their own rolling road.

where abouts are you steve..

Thanks for all the replys, i am in the midlands between coventry and leicester. If/when i do get this sorted, anybody know what the next stage of tune is and aproximate costs???

This particular case does sound like a gremlin of some sort in the works, but I've certainly found myself getting used to the power, to the point that (short of mashing the pedal into the carpet and engaging hyperdrive) the performance at 'ordinary' throttle openings is 'normal' and the ability to instantly increase my speed by 20-30mph is kind of taken for granted.
It's mostly when I'm introducing newbies to the car that I'm reminded quite how special it is; I'm sitting there with my foot to the floor thinking "Damn these guys and their excess weight, we're not accelerating quite as quickly as I know the car can", and then I look at the passengers and see that they're either grinning like maniacs or frozen in fear with a death grip on the door handle. Even with the extra weight, it's still crazy quick!

I remember in one particular case, we arrived back to base and I shut the car off and got out, but the passenger stayed in his seat. "Are you getting out?" I asked. "Just as soon as my knees stop shaking" he said.


Anyway, what I'm trying to say here is that (small) perceived performance drops are often psychological, you simply get used to the power.

"Just as soon as my knees stop shaking" he said.

What - he could still speak - must try harder!!

My personal favourite was many years ago in my RS2000 glancing at my passenger and realising he had eyes tight shut, hands clasped, and was quietly muttering the "Our Father" to himself! A good Catholic lad he was!

I use to think the same in my 550+bhp Skyline I had before the RS6.

However, my RS5 should feel well quick when i can drive it again, as I've now not driven it for 12 weeks now because of broken right foot ankle

How did the 'driving experience' compare with the RS6?

Consider it a golden opportunity to perfect your left foot braking (and throttle) technique.

How did the 'driving experience' compare with the RS6?.

The Skyline was much more of an animal Handled a lot better & was much quicker. more of a drivers car than the RS6 & more rewarding to drive when you could open it up. But that wasn't very often & it was not very good at sitting in traffic on the M25 That was one of the reasons why I had to get rid of it. Shame really as I still miss it & wish I could have kept it as a weekend hack car/Track car.

mine was when i took a mate of mine over a 50km favourite coast road. he did acrobatics and had taken me up with him and i had chundered in the cockpit. not a good look, although it was an outcome he had been seeking. needless to say he used to give me endless grief about it.

anyway, after about 20km on this road, he asked me to stop and got out and threw up. i was trying hard, but a very satisfactory outcome. he never mentioned the acrobatics incident again...
