What should I do?

Today I let a tuning house take my car to check some suspension probs with the MTM wheels (raised slightly) and found that during the day the car has logged 157mph (gps callibrated). Now I don't know if they have exceeded the UK speed limit on public roads, taken it round a track or rolling roaded it, but I am not a happy bunny.

Not that the car can't handle the speed but, well you know. Iguess I was half expecting 120ish.
I'm a reasonable guy and don't mind them doing a tonne, but this is taking the .... (please fill in the blank with a word of your choice).
What would you honestly do if this was your car/situation?
Cheers!
Grant

grant , can you prove it , if so go in to see the MD . if you get a nip you would go to jail for it . I can't see any reason to go that fast when looking at the suspension .
If any of my lads did that i would sack them!!!!!!!

The Heads Up Display has a peak recording for mph and rpm, and this is the first time I've reset it before giving her to someone. When she's been at Audi she never exceeded the speed limit. I doubt it would be admissable in court (if that's the right word/spelling!). What you say is exactly what I am thinking. If they had put her on the rolling road I would expect it, but not for suspension work!

Grrrr

you need to cover yourself in case there are repercussions. also the firm need to understand that the behaviour of one of it's employees it putting it in danger from the authorities and, if found out, customers....

Can't be on the RR Grant - no GPS signal inside the building. Is it the tuning company I think it might be?

The dyno i use will only go to 125 mph , so i think they have been for a "play"

It is initially callibrated by me using a gps so is more accurate than the speedo, but doesn't use gps "as you drive". It is used to tell the HUD what speed ratio to use based on the speed signal. Grizz's comment re the rolling roads helps tho, even if it makes me worry more!

I'd have a word with the management for sure.

Confront the tuner with what you know. Sooner rather than later.

Practically, you should get something out of this. They have taken the piss but the car can take it. Someone there has crossed the line, so they should make you whole in some way. So: ask for big discount on the bill you have/will get, and get them to do something else as well. If they blame it on an employee, tough <beep> - no excuse. You can get mad, or you can get even. Also, you might say that all the people on the forum would like to know who the company is - I sure would.

This type of 'playing' is a little more common that we would like. I don't have a speed log but do place a post-it note on the dash with the current mileage just so the techs know that I know if they go too far. So instead of 15 odd miles added, now usually 1-2
I would be less than happy if I knew 157 mph was being reached.

I would ask who drove the car and have a quiet word for them and offer them a ride in the boot and see how they like the speed from there LOL
On a serious note this is a joke!!!

At least they didn't use it as a minicab for the day!
