DMS tuning

Post by gumball996tt » Sun Jun 17, 2007 11:36 pm

Hi

I attach the content of a recent post I made on the DMS remap.

"On another point I have now had my RS6 for a couple of months. Before this I had an A6 2.8 Quattro and a very recently a M3 CSL.

In a nutshell I absolutely love the RS6! It does so many things so well with the exception of chucking round corners, so for that I have just bought a DSG VW Golf GTI.

Anyway a quick note on my most recent expenditure!

The RS6 is already bloody quick and realistically it is fast enough, but having had a 996 Turbo and letting DMS fettle with it (420 to 520BHP) temptation took over and I am now a very proud owner of a DMS tuned RS6.

In a word WOW! What a difference, I cannot believe what the tuning has done. The power and torque is now hilarious and brings a smile to my face each time I set fut in it.

I was out with a chum last week and was doing a rolling acceleration comparison with a Ferrari 360 Modena, which is in itself quite rapid. THe DMS RS6 is now on par with a Ferrari and held its own.

I am sure many of you must regularly think about should I/should'nt I, well I would say go for it, you will feel you have got yourself a new car for very little money extra. Give DMS a call they are a really good bunch of people and you can either go to them or they may be able to come to you. www.dmsautomotive.com "

The price is circa £1850 plus VAT, a lot cheaper and faster than a RS6+

Drop me a note if you want any further information

Regards

Jonathan

If you come to the South East meet I will hopefully be bringing REVO along who will put free demo software on. Only £800. I know its horses for courses but I personally would find there Re-Map enough, I would then spend the rest on RNS-E or a Zorst, or both :)

Yeah but I am lead to believe that the gearbox ecu is not remapped if one was to have the Revo remap Shaggy???? They advised me that some other tweaking is carried out to compensate......never did get to the bottom of it!!! I have RNS-E and Milltek so that wouldn't be an issue and I also understand that DMS warranty their workmanship for 3 years which offers great peace of mind wouldn't you agree?...Dave

Like the idea of Revo, but really want to get the TCU chipped too. Gearbox is a bit dumb compared to my AMD chipped (and sports coded) tippy tcu in the 2.7BiTurbo. Takes too long to change.

As I haven't quite taken delivery of my car yet I'm looking at chipping - well you have to, don't you?

DMS always get good reviews everywhere, but they come in at well over £2k for the map only (based on £1,850+VAT suggested above). That's within £300 or so of what AmD want for stage 2 which includes the Milltek cat-back. Is DMS that much better, or do they do more than a remap for the money?

Based on SEAT experience (I had the first customer Revo Ibiza TDI Sport just before Revo broke away from APR - those were the days eh, Shaggy?) I would have gone Revo, but TBH they aren't much cheaper than AmD stage 1 and AmD do the tranny as well, plus I'm drawn to the before and after plots as it will confirm my car is a good-un (having bought the first one I looked at so not really knowing if it feels "right"). Also what about QST?

Sorry to dilute the thread, but I'm interested in current experience of various tuners as I want to get it right first time. I'm leaning toward AmD just now, possibly straight to the Stage 2 - I bet the Milltek sounds nice?

Lastly if I come to the meet (assuming I have the car by then...) and get the Revo trial is that likely to upset the installation of a competitor's remap later if I decide to go with someone else?
