Over the weekend I had some serious fun in the '6, more than usual
Yesterday evening I burned off £30 in 100 miles just having fun on some quiet roads. The secret behind this increase in driving pleasure is a little device called the CG-LOCK.

For less than the price of a fill up, the CG Lock can keep your arse firmly planted in the seat around corners and over bumps. It does this by keeping the lap belt tight (as tight as you can bear!). Those of you with the high-tech cloth probably won't have this problem, but the main reason for me slowing down excessively on corners was because I was sliding on the leather too much.

So here it is, the CG Lock. £45 well spent. Easy to fit / remove and suitable for most cars (so you can easily transfer it between cars).

Sat in the RS4 and they are nice seats, not much movement, if any at all.

RS6 and yes, as you say, sometimes you're using the steering wheel to get yourself back into position rather than steer the car.

You'll probably find reviews all over the web for this device, it's very popular amongst track-day regulars. Even though I have no intention of ever tracking any car I own, I think the CG-lock could have been made for the RS6. It helps enormously in the twisties

A regular visitor to the forum, but must admit to not posting very often, so here's a post to rectify this!

I have had the CG lock for a couple of years and due to me breaking my back 10 years ago and now using a chair I was looking for a way to hold me in the seat without sliding all over the leather.

The CG lock works quite well, BUT I believe I have a way that is better and will cost you NOTHING!

The CG lock only holds the bottom half of your body which meant when cornering or hard braking your upper body wants to move with the forces, which for me meant that my arms were taking unneccesary strain.

So here's what to do and this is made very easy for RS6 users with electric seats.

First of all recline your back rest by roughly 6" then get your seat belt and with it in your right hand position it circa 12" away from the seat belt clip and give a quick pull toward you, it will then lock the belt. Keep the tension on the belt and clip it into the retainer. Once done with your left hand keep the tension on the belt and with your right hand bring the back rest up until it gradually pins you into the seat almost like a harness.

This will hold your entire body in place and really enhance your driving experience for FREE.

For those readers here without electric seats you can also try a similar method to this.

Again bring the seat belt across to a position circa 6" away from the retaining clip and quickly jolt the belt to lock it and pull your stomach in and try to clip it into the retainer. This does work, but may take a few shots before you perfect it. Once done you can adjust the seat to perfect it.

Have a go I always do this when the need for some spirited driving arises.

On another point I have now had my RS6 for a couple of months. Before this I had an A6 2.8 Quattro and a very recently a M3 CSL.

In a nutshell I absolutely love the RS6! It does so many things so well with the exception of chucking round corners, so for that I have just bought a DSG VW Golf GTI.

Anyway a quick note on my most recent expenditure!

The RS6 is already bloody quick and realistically it is fast enough, but having had a 996 Turbo and letting DMS fettle with it (420 to 520BHP) temptation took over and I am now a very proud owner of a DMS tuned RS6.

In a word WOW! What a difference, I cannot believe what the tuning has done. The power and torque is now hilarious and brings a smile to my face each time I set fut in it.

I was out with a chum last week and was doing a rolling acceleration comparison with a Ferrari 360 Modena, which is in itself quite rapid. THe DMS RS6 is now on par with a Ferrari and held its own.

I am sure many of you must regularly think about should I/should'nt I, well I would say go for it, you will feel you have got yourself a new car for very little money extra.
