Top speed limiter

Another post made me ask this question. Please don't slate me

Those of you who have been able to take your RS6 into light speed, where did you find the limiter.

In other words, what speed did your speedo say you were doing when she said "no more, please, no more! ! "

Just wondering, In Germany i got to 170 mph on the speedo and that's where it stopped, had a GPS speed on the tomtom but i didn't think about looking at the time.

The std 6's are meant to stop at 155, is 170 on the clock 155 or is the 155 limiter more of a give or take 160/165?

Interested to see what others have found while driving in Germany or your 2 mile driveway.

Thanks.

This topic came from my post "Std RS6" when marmite pointed out "Tested to 165 mph"

I have had the needle just crossing the '0' on the 180 MPH

Had 156mph on the Talex on a test track day :-)

Mine also stopped the needle at 170mph but was still pulling comfortably as it got there. I was reassured at how well-planted the car felt at this speed.

My faith in tyre rubber integrity is my speed limiter!

The top speed limiter on a standard RS6 is programmed at 255km/h or 158.45 mph.

On that same stretch of german autobahn, I have had 182 indicated on the snooper. Bloody scarry stuff tho.

passed 180 recently on M62 racing a Porsche Turbo S. Didn't dare look down but her who must be obeyed said "that'll do now....181 miles an hours fast enough"! Car was still pulling and regret going that fast but regret not seeing hoe much more it would have give

agree with other comment about how well planted car felt

Back when it was a standard road car I maxed my 944T on the M62 - 162 by GPS just like Porsche said. Amusingly leaving behind a 540i (presumably) on its limiter. It was some years ago and in the middle of the night though it was still irresponsible. Fun though and amazing how those motorway curves you don't really notice suddenly become corners.

185 on the speedo and still pulling [ thanks to an MRC remap ]. Only time I've experienced tunnel vision. The speck on the horizon became a car far too quickly. Don't think i'll be trying it again.

think it was in Car magazine (but i might be wrong) in their top 100 cars it said something like " RS6 Avant, Audi tell us there's a limiter but no one has been able to find it yet"
