i need a favour

My car went in to the dealers today because the sound system is just not as good as it should be , this afternoon i got a phone call from them telling me they cannot find a fault even thought the service guy agreed the sound quality was crap. Now is there anybody that lives near me in Sutton Surrey who has a RS6 saloon , who is willing to compare mine and their systems so i can get them to hear what it should sound like and that way that the dealer can hear that there IS a fault on my system.

If Tomps can't help I'm not that far away and have a saloon.

Going to carshalton beeches in about 4 weeks on a Friday if that's not to late. (Can't remember the date)

Failing that you're more than welcome to come to me one day or evening to compare. (Guildford)

:)

Sorry I couldn't spend much time today john.

From what i heard I'd get Audi to look again, def not as much Bass as mine.

We did buy the car in the end so the wife's well chuffed.

Going to give it a nice clean tomorrow.

Catch you soon.

Adam

Well, went into Walton Audi today and i must say they were very helpful, they called a master tech up and he went and had a listen, and his words were "the sound system has lost its punch" i couldn`t of worded better myself. Anyway its booked in for 2 days next to hopefully get sorted, but the master tech did say to bear with him as its a matter of process of elimination.

Good news John, "bob the builder" will sound the way it was ment soon ;)

You may even get a new "radio/head unit" (whole box) and get the upto date DVD type. That would be a bonus.

Till the next time

:D

They won't do that unfortunately. They can only replace like for like, you can't even pay the difference to get the upgraded unit. Pants, but please let me know if you hear otherwise !

Reason i said that was when we had a 2001 X5 the TV monitor started playing up.

It was the old square type 4:3 and as they didn't do that any more they put in the up to date wide screen. This was done in 2005.

This was all done with the BMW warranty.

Do Audi still do the 4:3 screen?

RSVI, they don't sell the 4:3 screen as new but have exchange units for replacing older models when they go faulty.
Also, don't think Audi would do a complete RNS-E upgrade as there is no official loom or adaptor or procedure available to do this conversion.

I'm no expert on this RNS-A B C D E thing but I'm sure "craigyb" does the change.

Changes a "D" into an "E"

As i said, no expert but i think this is for the hardware swap, not a software update.

Could be wrong though (AGAIN :D )

it was booked in at another Dealer today for 2 days to sort out the rather dim sounding stereo, anyway thay gave me a brand new A6 2.0t to play with. I needed to go back home for a few things, but when i got home i noticed the car they gave me had no tax disc, so i phoned them and they sent a someone round to put the tax disc on it. About 3pm i get a phonecall to say its all sorted they found the problem, so off i went to the dealers, the service guy came with me to my car turned the stereo on, he looked at me expecting me to say "wicked" instead i say that still sounds bxllox, there was no change at all. Apparently the stereo needed recoding which he told me on the phone, but now he thinks the stereo is not holding the code, so i`m back their tomorrow morning to meet the master tech AGAIN to hopefully sort this out
