Personally, I think its a bit pricey for an early(ish) car, with near 30,000 miles on it. When I bought my old 04 plate one, it had done about 10k miles, about a year old and I got it for about £42k. The other thing about the Layer Cake car is the wheels, its got the RS4 B5 type rims rather than the usual 5 spoke items - maybe this puts a few people off.

This is an odd one. It was advertised back in March for £35k at 27k miles, just had new pads and discs. Now it has 1k more miles and has increased in value - I'm going to keep driving mine! :D Possibly coming out of warrantee now too, unless it's been extended.

Its now at an Audi franchised dealership, so I guess the warranty will be renewed by them. Probably explains the price hike too. Although, I thought Audi dealerships marked everything up by at least £5k!

Hi Guys,

i tried to get this car about 6 weeks ago, but the guy who was selling it said he had another buyer, bit to much of a hike for me from Newcastle to The Grim South West :) on the off chance that it was still going to be there so i let it slip. Either way i got mself a Red 04 avante 16k on the clock. well pleased, but been back to dealer 3 times since, mirrors not folding, parktronic thingy not working and rear shocker leaking, now replaced along with some sort of front "c" seal !

Just realised the menu button on the consol doesnt do anything ! whats it supposed to do ?

cheers

Kipper

Kipper,

You have to press the button first thats in front of the menu wheel/button thing, this brings up the display for you to use the menu wheel/button thing.

I wonder what was done to your shocks... if you search there are loads of threads on here about this unofficial defect, as far as I know only cure is to replace dampers / actuator res with new.

For the record last week the price dropped on line to 36,850. Took the trip across to the dealer now Audi in Leeds and negotiated price down to 33,260 with road tax, next service and Auto Glym finish. Best bit was I got rid of the BMW 730i for sensible money...jesus that lump dropped like a lead balloon. Still by all accounts there are deals to be had on RS6's up and down the country, but the new tyres, brakes and discs are an expense I shouldn't have to make for at least a fortnight!! Gets delivered tomorrow lunchtime. Oh yeah and of course it comes with 12 months MOT and Audi warranty.

Now I bet all you experienced RS6 owners will come back and tell me I've gone and bought a pup, dont......I'd much rather live in ignorance.

Not at all bud, looks like you got a good deal there, particularly as the 40k service is a Major one so that for free willl save you up to about £400 to £500.

Looks like you've got all the angles covered there for carefree ownership, the only tip I would make is check if the cam-belt was changed at three years old? as as you can see in the other threads thats a bill of around a grand. The DRC is the only common fault that I know of, quite a few have failed doesnt matter though financially as that should be covered under your warranty. You can visually check to see if its been replaced by getting your head under the car and checking the dampers and actuators to see how shiny they are (they are fitted to the underside of the spare tyre well, you will see the hydraulic pipes connected to them)

Enjoy... An RS6 should come with a HANS device for the first few weeks until your neck muscles aclimatize to the acceleration  :D
