Just picked up another rs6, maybe as a breaker, maybe as a fixer. It runs beautifully, but there is absolutely no drive. Nothing happens when you put it in drive or reverse, other than the revs dipping slightly and a bit of a rotational noise.

There’s no fault codes showing on the trans and the live data all looks normal, it’s seeing going into 1m or reverse, activating the shift solenoids etc, however the input and output speeds are both showing zero. I guess this might mean the torque converter has left the chat, but I’ve never heard of this on a rs6.

I haven’t yet dropped the fluid or the pan, just interested if anyone’s got any ideas what would cause this?

The car is R555SYX, looks like it’s bounced around the trade for a few months.

Does the input speed read 0rpm in P/N? Or is it the same as the engine RPM? If so, does it drop to 0rpm when you engage D/R?

Or is there no input speed whatsoever? If this is the case I'd imagine input shaft failure

First thing to check is the ATF level and make sure the strainer isn’t blocked or cracked. Then I guess it could be a major mechanical failure like torque converter or ATF pump. The latter can easily be damaged if care isn’t taken when remounting the box.
