I think I know the answer already but.....
I need a UK drivers side rocker cover/valve cover. If anyone has one laying about spare.

I have some going spare. But I’m in Finland and it would probably be easier to find them locally. By all means, let me know if you can’t find.

By the way, the part numbers are as follows

Left side valve cover = 077103472L
Right side valve cover = 077103471S (with oil filler location)

These are common covers shared with other V8’s such as 4.2 A8 and A6, then also V8 VW Touareg

I crapped my pants at first because you never see them for sale without the complete engine. But fingers crossed Steve Green is sending me one.

I was running parts through the parts washer at work last night.
Put the rocker covers in there together, started it up, then thought..... actually I think ill cable tie them down. Anyway in the 15seconds it took for my brain to decide that it must of got snagged and ripped a hole in it! Idiot!

Proper heart sinking moment I bet when you saw that! Hope you find a replacement easily!

I was gonna look for a pair to get powder coated. Seem to be rare as hens teeth though.

Looks more like they're made of Jacob's Cream Crackers to me.

I hope not.
Magnesium is used in some automotive applications, gearboxes, steering columns etc. But it’s expensive and difficult to machine.
Oh! and it can catch fire, maybe that’s the kicker

I was under the impression they were made from magnesium too. They are also wafer thin and weigh about as much as a sheet of a4 paper!!
Steve Green had one and is sending me one along with the exhaust manifold. Hopefully this week.

Really wanted them powdercoated too. I know you don't.see alot of them but what you can see always looks crap. Would tidy the bay up so much but after reading about everyone's experiences of the paint just flaking off I was hesitant. Need to chat to my powdercoater really as I have magneengine cases on my motocross bike which go through hell and other than boots scuffing it has lasted well.
From what I read magnets quite porus so getting the things perfectly clean is the issue and the powder adhesion is compromised.
At the moment I'd rather rough looking original plain ones than ones that have paint peeling off like a bad Halfords paint job!.

After 5 years of use mine turned into the Halfords job you mention… Professional company, ceramic coated the exhaust manifolds, powdered the inlet and air intake. Everything looks fine accept the rocker covers…
