Main (crankshaft) bearings

I can not find OE main bearings aside from yellow pairs on eBay. As i understand it, the bearing #1 pair has 6 choices (red, yellow, blue) and bearings #2-5 also have 6 choices. Does that mean a bearing for #2-5 will not work in bearing #1?
Does anyone know where i can go to find equivalent bearings for the rs6? King bearing does not have a listing and not sure how to look up gylco bearings. Thanks in advance .

Good afternoon you will struggle finding bearings for the RS6 engine as they are no longer produced. You can’t even get them through Audi tradition either.
There are no aftermarket options out there for us to lean on when we need them (Yet) But I am in the process of having king race bearings making and producing bearings for this engine unfortunately I can’t give you any other time scales as they are very very slow themselves
Your only option for this at this moment in time is to use the VR6 Bearing

Didn’t know Aldi did bearings ?????
Any idea when this amazing project will be complete.
Itching to see the power curves.

Sorry Audi, the joys of using Siri to type out my messages whilst I’m working

Well we have movement and updates so things should be progress quicker than they have been previously. I’m really hoping to have it back by the end of this year now

Great work. As previously stated really looking forward to seeing the end result.

thanks so much for the insight. so are you saying the main bearings from the (diesel?) VW vr6 engine are perfect substitutes for the BCY engine? and if so, would the .025 undersized work with the red (?) undersized bearing needs?
also, do you know if the #1 bearing in BCY must be a unique shell or can the shells for bearings #2-5 be used in #1? curious b/c #1 does have 6 separate parts #s (upper/lower and red, yellow, blue).?

I wonder if these guys would be any help? The engine was co-developed with cosworth and they seem to offer spares and also manufacture as they have access to a lot of drawings.

Hi Cullen
A small correction in your thoughts:
Number 1 journal bearing (closest to flywheel) has an upper and lower part number, however they come in 4 variants (red, blue yellow and black) so 8 choices not 6.
Number 2-5 journal bearings are as you mentioned 6 choices.
I have run some of the part numbers through Audi Tradition and like Wes mentions above they are not available. It might be worth you speaking with LLLParts in the UK as they are showing as low stock for some of the bearings, but this might just mean back-order with Audi that is in an infinite loop. Some websites around europe as showing stock as well as some shops in the USA. It goes without saying that you should tread carefully.
Number 1 journal bearings were also used on the A8 and S8 from 2003 - 2007 so they should be easy enough to find. Numbers 2-5 journal bearings were RS6 only, so this might be a challenge.
If you need part numbers I can put them here - hope this helps?
I'm optimistic that they are available somewhere in the USA

You may be onto something. I did look at their site. I think again age of car working against me, sadly. Additionally, i am unsure as to all the dimensions of the main bearing options for the rs6. But i suppose i could reach out to them. Thank you!

thanks for the reply. I ordered a few main bearings from both LLL parts and USP motorsports this past week. both places falsely claimed to have the parts in stock. so they ended up cancelling my orders days after placing them. so that was a small gut punch. I hadn't seen a part # for #1 black bearings, but good to know.
I did buy 5 yellow bearing pairs labeled 077-105-561-BD (gib). are those for the later a8/s8 and therefore fitting for #1 bearing on an RS6?
the car would be running if I could just find main bearings, so this is a bit frustrating. but thx to all for your help. I'll keep looking.

hi again, I checked and believe that #1 journal is actually closest to the belt pulley side, not the flywheel. here's what my crankshaft install instructions from Audi says:
Crankshaft Bearing Cap Identification
Bearing 1 is located on the belt pulley side.
so, unless I'm mistaken the #1 bearing (closest to the belts) match with the a8/s8's of the mid-200'0s, right? and bearing shells #2-5 (upper/lower) and more unique to the c5 rs6. I installed yellow bearings for all 1-5 bearings (thx, eBay) and there's a bad whine at startup. apparently Audi COLORED the crank with dots to signal what lower shells to install. shockingly, the color marks washed away. this week I'll remove the upper pan to get the stampings for the upper shells so hopefully that tells me exactly what part number to find. speaking of finding parts, I'm still finding nothing. almost considering buying used mains from a junked engine, it's that bad. ha! thanks again.
