After run fans

After run fan.
Since installing the new fans.
On cold start. Large fan runs for approximately two mins.
On shutdown fan doesn’t continue to run for a short while.
Wondering if there is a setting that needs altering
On my old fan every time I turned the engine off the fan would continue to run for a short while.

Is your air con on "ECO"?

No Ben. Never really have it on econ.
As far as the car is concerned nothing has changed. Just replaced a faulty fan for a genuine replacement.

I think the fan is behaving normally. The ECU makes the fan run-on in certain circumstances, such as elevated coolant temperature on shut off. Probably because it's cold it doesn't need to run the fan.

I know the car is running a lot “cooler” since I had all that work done.
I can only compare the fans to how they used to behave.
On the old fan. Every time I switched the engine off the fan would run on for a couple of mins.
On the new fan not so.
I will investigate a bit further on future trips out.
Todays motorway miles has been a dream drive. As usual the car has performed beautifully. Oil temp sat Around 85 degrees c at motorway (legal) speeds.
Just thinking about it. There are not many 20 year old cars about, that I would just jump in and go on a few hundred miles journey without any hesitation.
Having said that and tempted the Audi gods. I had better go and renew my AA membership.

Steve, your car is one of the best maintained, used regularly would probably be as releible as a new one.
Having said that, I'm contenplating a road trip to France next year in the 45 year old SL. It's incredible, can leave it for a over a month and starts up first time.

I've started using mine a lot more too. At the beginning of the year I was hardly using it and it just got in the way. I figured why save it for the next guy to enjoy more!
So have used it loads more this year - and I would say it's running better for it. Couple of infrequent electrical related error codes I would get - have now gone....
I'd comfortably drive the RS on a road trip anywhere.
And yet my 1989 landrover broke down on sunday night. Outside the fish and chip
Shop.
Fortunately electrics in that are a bit simpler - went over the following morning with a screwdriver, removed the steering shroud and wiggled a wire - all good again.

Many thanks for the compliment capt Ric.
That’s great news Matt. Yes mate I am a firm believer that you have to use these cars on a regular basis.
As you know mine is my daily and covered 130K miles.
Driven every day since I bought her in 2012.
Simply put I just love driving her, and in return she (Christine) loves to be driven.
Other than new bilsteins, top mounts discs, pads, tyres plus keeping the diff oils changed. I haven’t done much to the rear end.
Will have to take a look at that sometime in the future.
I have been gathering spares over the year for when they will be needed.
Hopefully to give me a bit of future proofing.
A very expensive year this year. Some of it wasn’t needed. But I thought if I am changing this and that. Whilst we are in there we might as well change the other as well.
