Are these still available from Audi or does anybody know where they can be purchased? (Original)

Or as an alternative, which other non OE are tried and tested and a good alternative?

Also, which is considered as cylinder 2, from front looking at engine, is it left side second plug towards the windscreen?

Second from the front on the left when looking at the engine from the front of the car.

Plenty of possibilities on autodoc:

I'd probably go for a Beru one. Or NGK.

Cheers Shopp, started the job today and found the wiring has original markings so it’s the one expected and as you’ve pointed out 👍🏻

It’s currently Hitachi that’s in and look to be oem, are they notoriously crap and better to get different or replace with Hitachi as all seem the same?

This is a if need be scenario, came back from MOT with it missing and they scanned and said cylinder 2, expect it to be the coil pack etc, plugs are really due now so replacing them first and see if that cures it, if not it’s coil next

Currently removing Denso Iridium IK22, should I be concerned? They seem to be similar price to NGK and that’s what I’m putting back in. Plug 2 looks a bit wet, I’ll follow up with some pics as I go, more on it all tomorrow as I’m out for a good feed tonight, back on it first thing

Re. Plugs. Only put the correct OE NGK ones in, imvho.
Too many times I’ve used an equivalent on something and then had to chase niggling misfires and coil pack failures, only to eventually reset to the correct NGK ones. (My old Saab was very particular!)

Yeah NGK only
I think I read in the FAQ section.
Use others at your risk or something like that.
So I have always used NGK.

Yeah. The NGK OE spec ones only. Otherwise you’re playing Russian roulette.

Well I discovered the Denso are very fine in comparison to the NGK, electrode tip etc

Anyway, here’s some pics of how it went

Here’s plug no 2

Compared to the other 3

They look healthy enough, but 2 does have a cleaner electrode which would indicate the non firing/coil issue

First 4 out and new NGK ready to go in

I found this on the other bank, first plug at front of engine

Is this normal? Or has somebody knackered a thread on a coil previously? It wasn’t even in tight, came out in my hand

I managed to get it to catch putting it back in, so it’s got a better fit now at least

New vs old

And it going back together

The results????

Balls… still missing and eml on, so a new coil has been ordered and awaiting now to go back through it all again soon

All removed

Definitely due a change anyway and looking forward to the first proper drive after the coil is swapped to see how the NGK perform but expect I should notice the difference

Is that your garage work bench?

Also, have you done the trick of swapping the coil in question to another cylinder and seen if the error follows it?

That’s the kitchen Lander, no women in my house to nag me anymore

No, haven’t done the swap as I don’t have a code reader and it’s a lot to strip and assemble etc, tbh the coils aren’t as expensive as I expected so cheap enough to have a bash, if it’s not that I’m definitely snookered anyway

Kitchen, workshop, bathroom, bedroom.. either way I like your style! Get a bottle of Classic Laddie in there to even out the colour palette.
